~~~There's goes my hands shaking and you are the reason. My heart keeps bleeding, I need you now. And if I could turn back the clock I'd make sure the light defeated the dark. I'd spend every hour of every day keeping you safe. And I'd climb every mountain and swim every ocean just to be with you and fix what I've broken. Oh, 'cause I need you to see that you are the reason~~~
LUKE's POV:
"Whoa! Drinking at ten o'clock in the morning!"
I closed my eyes tightly when I heard Patrick's voice behind me. I went straight to my favourite bar right after the court granted our divorce. I'm back to being single again, but I feel so empty. It's as if the weight of the world has suddenly fallen on my shoulders and I couldn't move.
When she looked at me earlier, it was then that I realized how much I loved her and if I had only come to my senses a few years ago and apologized to her, maybe we wouldn't have reached this point. I wish I had known before how to lose someone important to you, maybe I could have been responsible and become a loving husband to her. A husband that she deserved.
"Hey," He sat down next to me and patted me on the shoulder.
"What are you doing here?" I asked bringing the glass of whiskey into my mouth.
"I should be the one asking you that question. What are you doing here and why are you drinking this early morning?"
I snorted. "Tss! It's as if you have no idea about what happened."
"Of course, I know what happened, you just got divorced, but dude, even if you drink all day and all kinds of alcohol in the world, you could no longer change the judge's decision---and your ex-wife's decision."
I threw him a death glare but he just shook his head.
"Besides, it's not the end of the world. You have to stay strong because you also have to move on. There are still a lot of things waiting for you and needing your attention. Your job, the company, your employees, your friends, your parents and your daughter... remember, your sweet and innocent little girl still needs her parents, her father."
I just took a deep breath, closing my eyes tightly.
"And anyway, our newest project in Canada including the expansion has been approved by the---"
"Take my position, Patrick," I said interrupting him.
"What?" His eyes narrowed at me.
"I don't feel like going to the office today and even the next day, next week, the whole month. Honestly, I no longer want to go to work." I drank the remaining content in my glass.
"Oh, come on, Luke, don't be ridiculous! I told you it's not the end of the world---"
"Yes, for you it's not the end of the fucking world, but for me it is!" My voice rose a bit and since there was loud music playing around the bar, no one noticed it except Patrick. I poured another shot of whiskey and drank it in one gulp.
He turned silent after that but didn't leave his gaze on me.
"I don't know how would I start my life now, Patrick. I don't know how to move forward. I waited for more than four years to apologize to her and tell her my feelings, but suddenly it all turned out like this." I said staring at the glass in my hands. "I thought when she comes back, everything will turn back to its place again."
"And what do you mean by everything will turn back to its place? Are you expecting that she will easily forgive you when you apologize to her? That she will easily accept you after all the things you have done to her?" He asked me sarcastically, but I chose to ignore his tone.
"No, that's not what I mean. I just thought she would give me a chance. Another chance." I sighed heavily and drank my shot.
"You know what, dude, to tell you honestly, if I were her, I wouldn't give you a chance either."
