"Uhuh?" She then seemed excited.
"I said I'm dating," I repeated. "But he's not here and I was the one who broke the vase. So, would that be okay for an answer?" I still had to lie to keep her from walking into my room.
"Well..." She chuckled at me. "I love that answer, Sam," she winked and I rolled my eyes. "I'll take it for now."
I took a deep breath when she walked back and sat on the couch again.
"How long have you been dating?" She was staring at me when she asked.
"Just a few days ago... uhm... or more," I shrugged.
She said nothing but her eyes were still on me.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I couldn't help but ask as I started to feel awkward with the way she was looking at me.
"Nothing, I'm just happy for you,"
"Really?"
"Yup, and I can see how happy you are too. I guess whoever this man makes you happy and inspires you as it shows through your eyes. You're blooming, girl!"
"Tss! Blooming your face!" I said, trying to hide the blush that crept into my face. "So now that you already got your answer, would you please do the honor of leaving my room so I could start cleaning?"
But instead of doing what I said, she sat comfortably on the couch and it took another ten minutes before she finally decided to go out.
"Alright, I guess I should really go now before the man in your closet dies in suffocation."
"Huh!" I was left dumbfounded in my spot as she headed for the door.
-'How did she know that Luke is inside the closet?'-
"I'm going out, girl." She said laughing at my reaction.
"Wait! Hailey!" I called out before she could close the door.
"Yes?" She stopped and turned to me.
I immediately ran to the door and whispered...
"I'm actually dating back my ex-husband,"
"What?" She squealed, her forehead creased.
"I'm going to tell you everything, but I'm not yet ready for now."
"Ohh..." She said nodding. "I - I was surprised, I mean, what you said really surprised me and I really wanted to ask some questions, but... " she paused with a sigh. "But I'll just wait when you're ready to share it with me." She smiled, squeezing my hand.
"Thanks, Hailey,"
"Hmm... don't mind it." She chuckled but then my smile vanished in the next word she said. "Good luck,"
