One More Chance novel Chapter 19

~~~ Oh, it hurts the most 'cause I don't know the cause. Maybe I shouldn't have cried when you left and told me not to wait. Oh, it kills the most to say that I still care. Now I'm left trying to rewind the times you held and kissed me back. I wonder if you're thinking 'Is she alright all alone?' I wonder if you tried to call but couldn't find your phone. Have I ever crossed your thoughts because your name's all over mine...~~~
A loud gasp escaped from me when he slammed his hand on the roof of his car. And so my tears fell at the same time. Although he didn't exactly mention who was 'her' that he's referring, there's no other girl I know in his life... it's Cherry. So they broke up... I didn't know how they split, but one thing is for sure, they're no longer in a relationship.
But why am I not happy after knowing that they broke up? Is it because I could see the pain in his eyes? Or is it because he loved her which I know he will never feel for me?
"I - I'm s-sorry..." I tried to say between my sobs, lifting my hand over my chest as I felt the pain coming from within.
"Sorry? Do you think you can turn everything back just because you said sorry?" He asked, his eyes flaring with anger.
I didn't answer him or should I say I don't know how to answer his question. Can I turn back the time? Can I undo what I've done?
"Get out of my face, Samantha, before I forget you're the mother of my child!"
"But Luke---"
"I said get out of my face!"
I just took a step back but I didn't move after that. I remained standing in my spot, crying as I watched him repeatedly banged his hands in his car.
'Luke...' I called him when he hopped inside the car, but my voice just came out a whisper.
I had no choice but to cry and watch him leave until he finally disappeared from my sight.
I cried hard that morning and chose to stay in my room the whole day. I was glad that it happened on a Sunday morning so I didn't have to go to class. Jack kept calling me but I told her that I wanted to rest all day and she understood.
After that confrontation, I never saw Luke again. He's gone for another couple of days until it became week and a couple of weeks. I tried not to feel worried but I couldn't help myself. Until one afternoon, while I was watching the news channel in the living room, the anchor reported that a red Maserati sports car with the plate number that had been registered in his name was involved in a terrible accident.
Panic and nervousness crept all over my body that I didn't notice the glass I was holding accidentally dropped on the floor, creating a loud creaking sound. I saw Elaine and Rory rushing out of the kitchen with worries evident on their both face.
"Mam Samantha?"
"What happened?"
They asked in unison but since I was starting to feel the pain on my left foot, I ignored them and looked down slowly only to be horrified with what I saw.
Blood.
I tried to think why the hell there was blood on the floor and on the white carpet, but I didn't get the chance to know where it came from as I had already lost consciousness.
What I didn't know was that the glass I accidentally dropped a while ago broke into pieces and the large piece hit my left foot. And the blood came from the large cut that surely will leave a scar.
I don't know long I have been sleeping or how long I have lost my consciousness, I just woke up with a lot of people around me. My parents, parents-in-law, Dale and Jack.
"W-What happened? Why are you guys all here?" I tried to get up but my mom came to my side in an instant.
"You should take rest a little more, Sam."
I didn't listen to her as I get up and sit straight to ask them again. "What are you here? What is going on?"
