Chapter 112
Earlier. Rachel had prepared a room for Cynthis.
After Cynthia entered, she found the room looked completely different. Everything in the house seemed to have been cleaned again, and even the curtains were spotless.
The small wilted plants on the balcony had all been replaced with new ones, and the weeds in the yard had been completely cleared, making it look tidy and clean.
Only the small wind chime on the balcony remained tinkling softly in the breeze, creating a soothing sound like the wind in the forest. Cynthia stood in the yard for a while before heading back inside.
Rachel brought over a bowl of pumpkin soup. “I just made this tonight. I plan to set up a stall to sell breakfast by the school entrance tomorrow. Come try it first.”
Cynthia hadn’t eaten much at the Hyatt, so she sat down and had the pumpkin soup. After a sip, she was pleasantly surprised. This is really good.”
Rachel’s face lit up with a warm smile. “If you like it, have more there’s plenty. I also have green pea soup and granola bowls.”
“Then save me a granola bowl for tomorrow morning; I love it, Cynthia said.
“Sure, replied Rachel.
That night, Cynthia slept in Splendid Garden. The room was small, and the bedding was quite simple.
She could be quite particular. She was used to high–end bedding. Even a mattress worth 600 thousand dollars, a silk comforter worth tens of thousands, and expensive latex pillows couldn’t save her from her troubled sleep.
But today, as she lay down, the sheets and pillowcases were new, made of pure cotton. They had been washed and sun–dried giving them a lovely scent.
For some reason, after lying down, Cynthia felt a wave of sleepiness wash over her. She surprisingly slept for seven hours straight.
Cynthia had never slept so well in the past three years. When she woke up, she felt refreshed and invigorated.
Cynthia stepped out of her room and found that Rachel had already left. Meanwhile, breakfast was waiting for her on the dining table—a granola bowl, quinoa cakes, scrambled eggs, churros, and savory pancakes.
Rachel had set aside one of each item, and a warm feeling welled up in Cynthia’s heart.
After finishing her meal, Cynthia decided to leave. Before she did, she opened Rachel’s bedroom door. As she glanced around, her gaze landed on a small vanity in the corner, and she walked over.
The vanity was simple, with just a wooden comb and a moisturizer. Cynthia picked up the wooden comb and noticed two or three strands of hair on it.
Cynthia took out a transparent plastic bag and collected the strands of hair, placing them inside.
After leaving Splendid Garden, Cynthia went to Hector’s private hospital. She placed the two plastic bags on his desk and said, “Please help me with a DNA test.”
Though Hector’s private hospital wasn’t very large, it primarily served wealthy individuals from high society. They also had genetic testing technology available,

Hector glanced at the two plastic bags and asked. “Have you discovered Mr. Bennett’s illegitimate child?
Cynthia chuckled. “I broke up with him long ago.
Hector was surprised. After their last counseling session, he thought Cynthia would open up to Jonathan, but she broke up with him instead. “Does he really have an illegitimate child?”
Cynthia seemed unconcerned. “No. Don’t ask any more questions. Just help me test if the two people in here are related.”
Although Hector knew many things about Cynthia, like her swap with Shirley, the situation now seemed much more complicated than expected. Even Cynthia couldn’t even make any guesses, So, for now, she didn’t want to share anything with anyone.
Seeing that Cynthia was unwilling to say more, Hector didn’t press her. He simply said, “I don’t have many staff here. So, it will take at least two days. Come back for the report then.
Cynthia said, “I’m going to Pillere for a week tomorrow. I’ll come back to you after that.”
In the afternoon, Cynthia reported to Freddie that she would take the ten days of annual leave they had agreed on last time. Since Freddie had promised it himself, he naturally couldn’t backtrack.
In the evening, Cynthia went to Greenfield Villa to pack her things. As she drove up outside, she noticed that the lights inside the villa were on.
As Cynthia entered, she happened to see Claude coming down the stairs. Upon noticing her, Claude quickly greeted her respectfully, “Ms. Jones.”
Cynthia politely nodded and asked, “Mr. Gaston, are you here to help Mr. Bennett with his luggage?”
Claude’s face flashed with a hint of embarrassment. “No, Mr. Bennett got drunk tonight and insisted on coming here, so… Upon hearing that, Cynthia frowned.
Noticing Cynthia’s displeasure, Claude quickly played the sympathy card. “Mr. Bennett hasn’t been in a good mood lately. He’s been so caught up with work that he hardly eats or sleeps. With all the intense meetings, his stomach problems have flared up. He just got IV treatment at the hospital this afternoon, and now he’s out socializing. He’s definitely going to have stomach pain again tomorrow.”
Cynthia didn’t fall for it. “With his status, what social event can’t he skip? Who in the government would dare make him drink if he didn’t want to?”
Claude’s embarrassment deepened, and he, who was usually calm and composed, could only scratch his head awkwardly. “That’s true, but Mr. Bennett hasn’t been in a good mood lately, so he drank a bit more.”
Fearing he might reveal too much if he stayed any longer, Claude hurriedly said goodbye. “Ms. Jones, I’ll take my leave now, I appreciate you looking after Mr. Bennett tonight”
