Chapter 239
Naomi returned to Azuregaze Mountain. Her personal doctor had already arrived and examined Ivy, who was now sleeping after being given some medication.
Naomi chatted with the personal doctor for a while. After learning that Ivy’s chest pain was due to angina from coronary heart disease and that she was currently in no immediate danger, Naomi felt a wave of relief.
She had never known her mother; her mother had died from a pulmonary embolism shortly after giving birth to her. Her father had abandoned her, leaving her in the care of a nanny and a butler in the villa in Roncrity.
For so many years, Naomi’s father had never come to see her. Ivy knew about her background and often sighed when holding her as a child. “Naomi, if only you were a boy, your father would have taken you back home.”
This thought had been deeply ingrained in Naomi’s mind since childhood. She even thought to herself, If I were a boy, I would have a family
So, from a very young age, she started to mimic boys. She kept her hair short and only wore boys‘ clothes. Over time, many people assumed she was a boy.
As she grewolder, she felt no different from men. In fact, most men were not as good as her–neither as handsome nor as skilled in fighting.
The only inconvenience was having to use the women’s restroom, which often caused panic and sometimes even led to calls to the police.
Naomi was a firm believer in not getting married and had no plans to have children. Her life had been a tragedy, her mother died giving birth to her, and her father abandoned her at birth.
Because her father had no offspring, Naomi was brought back to the Sullivan family when she came of age to recognize her heritage. But after her father had a son later in life, he once again cast Naomi aside.
Naomi had long since dismissed the concept of family as nothing more than a farce. She was content to live her life freely and independently. In her entire life, she only truly cared about three people: Ivy, Mr. Lampard, and Cynthia.
Naomi returned to her room and stepped out onto the balcony to smoke. Although she dressed like a boy, she had delicate, slender fingers as pale and graceful as porcelain.
The long, slim cigarette between her fingers glowed with a red ember, and the crisp, cool scent of tobacco filled her lungs, gradually enveloping her in a cloud of smoke.
Suddenly, she noticed a light in the distance. Naomi suddenly craned her neck, her face full of shock. There were only abour seven or eight mansions on Azuregaze Mountain, and most of them were spaced out
But her mansion and the twins‘ mansion were particularly close. The two properties were almost connected, separated only by a fence.
When she was a kid, a pair of twins lived in the house across from hers. Naomi wasn’t sure if they were also orphaned, but they lived with their grandmother,
Naomi had been very close to them and often went over for meals. However, when she was in the third grade, the twins‘ grandmother passed away, and not long after, the twins moved away without a proper goodbye.
For many years, the lights in that villa never came on again. Later, Naomi herself left, but now that she had returned.
‘Could the twins really be back? I need to find out what’s going on, Naomi thought. She was curious and couldn’t contain her curiosity. She decided to go and check it out.

Both villas occupied large plots of land, and although they were adjacent, the main entrances were quite far apart.
Naomi didn’t like using the main entrance either. When she was little, to make it easier for her to drop by for meals, the twins had specially installed a sthall gate in the corner of the yard.
Before Naomi moved out, she often went through this gate to the neighboring property. Their yard was filled with all kinds. of fruit trees–apple trees, peach trees, fig Trees, and plum trees
Due to the lack of maintenance, the fruit trees in the yard had grown wild, sprouting many new saplings. The area had essentially become a small orchard.
During those years, whenever the fruits ripened, she would go through the small gate to pick them. She would sit up in the Trees and eat to her heart’s content.
Naomi had already slipped through the small gate. Inside, she found the yard completely transformed. The weeds and wild trees were gone, ground lights illuminated the path, and the flower beds were filled with fragrant, exotic plants.
The old swing set, which used to be rusty and covered in dust, had also been refurbished. It was freshly painted, and any broken parts had been repaired.
Naomi remembered how much she loved that swing. She would stand on it, and the twins would take turns pushing her. If they didn’t push her high enough, she would give them a good scolding.
Yes, I often scolded and even hit the twins, but mostly because they deserved it, Naomi thought
Seeing the lights on inside the villa, Naomi felt a strong sense of curiosity. She wondered. “Was it the same pair of twins who had returned, or were there new owners!
If it was a new owner, it would be quite impolite for me to just large in After some thought, Naomi decided to leave and come back during the day tomorrow with a proper reason to visit
Seeing a cherry tree in the yard laden with bright red cherries, Naomi suddenly thought of how much Cynthia loved eating those sweet, juicy cherries.
Maybe I can pick some and bring them to Cynthia tomorrow as an apology for standing her up today, Naomi thought, feeling a bit guilty.
Without wasting any time, Naomi started climbing the cherry tree to pick the cherry. As she picked more and more, she ran
of places to put them, so she took off her floral shirt and used it to wrap the figs.
