Our Luna, Our Mate by Linda Middleman novel Chapter 116

Athena’s POV

The moment Ares had said that the Pack’s BBQ was for me I couldn’t help but smile. For part of me wanted to forgive him along with Eros while another part of me wanted to stay as mad as I possibly could, to teach them how it felt to be lonely and unwanted.

And yet, after much talking to Artemis that night and most of the morning I knew deep down that what they were doing was in order to protect me. To protect me and our pups from the dangers that lurked around every corner.

For as long as Lily was out there, somewhere, then my mates knew that I would never be safe until she was killed. And yet, I had still managed to turn it against them by accusing them of not wanting to be with me.

‘Hey don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure if it had been the other way around, then they probably would have done it right back to you’ offers Artemis, hoping to help ease my worry.

‘Thanks, but… There’s no excuse for me to be that childish. For I did know what they were doing and I still managed to complain.. Making it seem bigger than it really was’ I murmur back to her.

‘Yet they're still finding a way to fix their mistakes. So it really is a win-win if you ask me’ chimes Artemis, causing me to roll my eyes before returning my attention back to those around me.

An hour or so later

The party was still in full swing, every member of the pack coming to officially greet their new Luna or Alpha’s for since the war with Ezra things had been extremely crazy with getting those settled and placed that no one had ever stopped to just mingle.

‘Too crazy if you ask me’ whispers Artemis.

‘I know and now with these threats coming and going things are about to get a whole lot crazier’ I add.

Suddenly, there’s a small shout off in the distance causing everyone to move to turn towards the owner. A guard now running over in mine and Ares direction, Eros slowly approaching as well, scowl on his face as he did, clearly not liking what was about to be said.

“Is-Is everything okay?” I whisper to Ares.

“Let me ask, stay here” whispers Ares as he moves to approach his brother and guard. Both of which didn’t look very happy.

‘Think we should go see what’s going on?’ asks Artemis.

‘No, Ares told us to wait here and so wait here is what we’ll do’ I replied not wanting to disobey my mates wishes.

‘Oh come on… Where’s the fun?’ whines Artemis.

‘Artemis I said no, and no means no’ I growled, needing her to know when to wait and when to spy on others.
