Our Luna, Our Mater
Chapter 7
Athena’s POV
“You just about done?” shouts the voice of Diana who had all but startled me as I had been too focused on completing my objective, the objective being the ballroom as it had been a rough start this morning after being told that I was to be the one to hang up all the decorations for the room.
“Almost” I say as I continue working on the smaller details like the tables that were stationed off to the side of the room that would house food and drink for the guests as they entered the
ballroom for the evening.
“Well hurry up” snapped Diana which drew my attention. My eyes going to that of her neck and to
the hickey that was there, a hickey that could have only come from Jacob which meant that Diana
had gone off to see him instead of helping out like she was supposed to.
“What are you looking at?” asks Brian who noticed me staring at Diana and her neck.
“N-Nothing, just looking at the wall” I say, hoping that he would let it slide just this once.
“Hmm” hums Brian as if thinking. “I suppose I can let it go just this once, as you did great with all
the decorations”.
Blinking I have to refrain myself from asking what it was he had just said as I’m sure he would never repeat it unless he was torturing me for the fun of his own amusement. “T-Thank you” I stutter making it sound more like a question than an answer.
“Ya, Ya don’t get used to it, tomorrow you’ll be helping with the kitchen staff while making sure everything is ready for the ball so be prepared or else” is all Brian says before turning and walking away, Diana hot on his heels as they both leave the ballroom.
Once gone am I allowed to process what had just happened. “W-Was Brian being nice to me? No that can’t be right, he’s never been nice to me before” I say as I quickly move to finish-up with my task knowing it was well into the afternoon and I had yet to eat anything and wanted to grab a small snack from the kitchen as the kitchen staff would leave me small meals since I never liked eating at home as my family would either shun me or poke fun of me which always made me lose. my appetite soon after.
וי
‘I guess we’ll see what tomorrow brings us’ mutters Artemis who was on the same wave link as me, as we slowly made our way towards the kitchen.
Upon reaching the kitchen I can’t help but notice that everyone was in some sort of chaos already as everyone tried to get things prepped and prepared for the ball that was to take place in just two

days. “Athena” calls one of the Omega’s as she moves to run over to me.

“Is everything okay Maya?” I ask as I turn to study the woman in front of me as Maya wasn’t like most Omega’s and always tried her best when it came down to helping others.
“Yes everything is fine, here” she says as she hands me a small container wrapped in cloth.
“Maya… you didn’t have to” I say as I take the container in question.
“Nonsense, no wolf deserves to go hungry and that includes you. Your family ought to be ashamed of themselves” mutters Maya, who somewhat knew of my situation as she took it upon herself to make sure I had plenty of food to eat.
“Thank you… truly” I whisper to her trying not to cry at her kindness as Maya was like a mother figure to me even though we weren’t biologically related she always took it upon herself to take care of me especially after learning how cruel my family could be when they left me to starve one night.
For you see, if it hadn’t been for Maya, I could have seriously died from the lack of shelter and food for I had only been about 12 yrs old when my family decided to give me one of their so- called punishments and threw me out the house for something that I had supposedly done all thanks to Diana. With nothing more than the clothes on my back, I was forced to find my own source of shelter that night only to run into Maya who had been nice enough to take me in, giving me what I needed to survive that night as I then realized that my family didn’t truly love me and was willing to kill me knowing that I didn’t have my wolf just yet.
“Athena?” calls Maya pulling me back from my thoughts.
“Sorry just got distracted” I whisper, giving her one of my best smiles not wanting to add any extra stress to her load already.
“You sure?” asks Maya, giving me a once over.
“Yes, you’ve already done so much for me that I could never repay you” I told her, hoping she would understand that.
“I know and I’m not asking you too, I would gladly do it for just about anyone” comes her only remark before giving me a quick hug before turning and going back to what she was doing.
“I’m going to miss her I whisper to Artemis knowing that if we managed to find our second chance mate that there was a good chance we would never see her again.
“Maybe we could ask our new mate if it was possible for her to come with us? After all she doesn’t

have a mate herself nor any children’ replies Artemis making me think as we move to leave the
kitchen.
*Hmm, that could be plausible’ I tell her as we move to leave the pack house and go over to our
small little oasis that is near the koi pond.
‘Guess we just have to ask’ is all she says as she moves to lay down inside my mind, the koi pond bringing peace to all its beauty.
‘Guess so’ I say as I look down at the carefully wrapped container before moving to unwrap it only to notice a turkey club sandwich, fruit and some kind of potato salad that was all neatly packed
inside it.
“Maya…” I whisper wondering how she managed to pull that off before shaking off the thoughts. as my stomach began to growl in protest from not eating all day.
“Okay, Okay” I say as I look at my stomach. “I get it, you’re hungry” comes another growl to to prove its point. Sighing, I move to eat my food, the hunger feeling slowly vanishing as I move to eat every bite.
