Penny gazed down at the slightly imperfect egg, the somewhat decent–looking sausage, and the rest of her slightly better–looking breakfast. She giggled and grinned, proud that she had done a perfect job of preparing the meal. 1
“This is better, this is good,” she nodded, carrying the plate. But just as she turned around, she saw Zoren at the entrance. Her eyes lit up. “Good morning, Renren!”
Zoren smiled as he peeled himself away from the doorjamb. “Good morning… Penny,” he emphasized her name, marching over to the counter. Standing on the opposite side of her, he looked down at the plate she placed in front of him.
“It’s perfect,” she immediately insisted, knowing that with his poor eyesight, this should look perfect to him. “Breakfast à la Penny. Enjoy your meal, sir!”
Zoren snapped his eyes up to her. “Thank you, Chef
“You’re welcome.” She bowed and dramatically twirled her hand to her chest. He laughed at her action, watching her turn her back on him to get her breakfast. Unlike his slightly “perfect” plate, Penny’s plate was just… less organized.
“Let’s cat!” she remarked, placing her plate in front of her.
“Here?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
“Standing?”
“Do you want to eat sitting down?” she asked, even though the answer was obvious. “You should stand, Mr. Pierson. Leg exercise”
“Ahh.” He nodded. “I don’t mind standing up, as long as she joined him.
“An exercise while eating, he remarked. “I’ve never heard of that, but sure.”
Penny smiled. “That’s the real exercise, you know?”
No, he didn’t know.
Zoren didn’t say anything else as he started eating…
her enjoy the breakfast. There
wasn’t anything special about the food, and to be fair, it was a little salty for his taste, Well, his taste buds had already gone bitter because of all the medication. However, it made his appetite. enthusiastic, and he knew he would finish everything she prepared for him, regardless.
“This one’s good,” he said, making her beam.
“I know, right?” she replied without even trying to sound humble. “It’s been a while since I made breakfast. Uncle Haines told me my hands were too precious for the kitchen, so he never let me prepare him breakfast. But if it’s just his selfish will, he would love to eat breakfast prepared by
me”
Meanwhile, in the Bennet Mansion, Haines almost choked on his coffee. For some reason, he felt
372 I simply assumed we eloped.
“Your uncle sounds like an affectionate man,” replied Renren, and Penny nodded.
“He’s the best uncle in the world, in two lifetimes,” she joked happily, raising her brows as he ate. “Renren, how do you feel now?”
“Hmm?” he hummed while chewing, tilting his head slightly. “I feel fine.”
She squinted. “Are you sure?”
“Mhm. I feel better than before. Why?”
“Why?” she repeated, confused. “Renren, do you remember how we got in here?”
He shook his head.
“Huh?” She scrunched up her nose before taking a big bite. “Aren’t you… curious?”
“I simply assumed we eloped. His response almost choked her to death, yet his ignorant expression slowly turned into a smile. “I don’t–see any problem with that… are you okay?” 2
Zoren furrowed his brows as he saw her pounding her chest before she chugged down a glass of water. He heard her huff before she looked back at him. Her face was completely red, her mouth opening and closing like a fish.
“Oh, goodness!” she blurted out, looking at him in disbelief. “Renren, eloped? My goodness. Have you met my brothers?”
“I met them, and I think they were nice people.”
“They are nice people, I know… until you’re associated with me,” she remarked. “Especially for the opposite gender. They only behaved when you picked me up because of my mom.”
Zoren smiled. “I like them more now.”
Penny stared at this innocent man, unsure if this would break her heart or touch her heart. Either way, she shook her head.
“Since we didn’t clope, what happened last night?” he asked out of pure curiosity. “It seems some parts of my memory are a blur. You didn’t drug me, did you?”
“Why would I do that?” she retorted.
“So? What happened?”
Penny pressed her lips together and slowly looked up, recalling what had happened the night
before.
Last night…
“So?” Zoren sat on the swing, looking up at the other end. “Good?”
Penny cringed and gazed down. “Renren, this seesaw is for kids, I see. How did this look so high when we were young?” she wondered because she could jump off it now without breaking her
ankle.
“Because von were small hack then?” he guessed only to earn a hiddomental look from her

“Why?”
“You were almost the same height as me at seventeen.”
