Chapter 39
Half an hour later, Emma appeared at the Bateson Group. There was no other reason than the investor was the king. She pressed the elevator button to go upstairs. She could be considered familiar with this place because she often came to deliver lunch to Trevor in the past.
Not long after their wedding, she went through the horrifying experience of sending Trevor to the hospital in the middle of the night because his stomach issues had flared up suddenly. After that incident, she began helping him to take care of his body to the best of her abilities. She would personally cook three meals a day for him according to the recipes given by the dietician, and she never missed a single meal.
Standing outside Trevor’s office, Emma took a deep breath before she knocked on
Trevor was sitting at his desk. When she caught sight of him, she almost-collapsed because he was wearing a light gray shirt with a black tie around his neck. Unknowingly, they had dressed in the same colors like a couple would.
Before leaving the house earlier, she had deliberately changed into a formal attire which included a light gray linen suit paired with a black suspender under her top. She even went so far as to put on a light touch of makeup. Since they were discussing
manner, lest he find fault with her again.

She secretly gritted her teeth. She could tell that he was making fun of their goddamned couple outfits. However, she could only ignore his jest and politely greeted him. “Mr. Bateson.”
He retracted his gaze that was fixed on her face and motioned toward the long table beside her. “Have a seat.”
She calmly walked over and took a seat, after which she took out her laptop from her bag and began setting up.
