Chapter 95
Zachary was the caller, and Trevor had asked him to do it. He wanted Zachary to call him at a certain time, since he knew the dinner would not end well. He took the call and said, “Thanks.”
Zachary drawled, “No prob.” He then said, “Thomas‘ good friends with the deputy mayor. He oversees all things cultural. Your company‘s gonna find it hard to expand
now.”
Every movie and show had to be authorized after they were produced. Bateson Group Films would be hard pressed to move forward if Thomas tried to sabotage them. Trevor knew that, of course. As he walked out of the restaurant, he said coldly, “This is not my father‘s generation. The company doesn‘t have to rely on anyone or anything to survive.”
Out of the three heads of the Bateson Family, Jared was the worst of them all. Trevor‘s grandfather was capable and ruled with an iron fist, but his son was incompetent. He was not cul out to be a leader or a decision maker. To make things worse, he was a casanova, and he had lots of affairs too. That particular one was blown out of proportion because he wanted to get a divorce. Alice ignored most of his other women. Because of his weakness, he had to rely on some people to keep the company safe when he was in charge.
Trevor was the best leader out of the three, He was as capable as his grandfather, and he was cunning enough by himself. The company expanded rapidly under him, and he was confident in himself. He said, “Thomas can try to sabotage us, but he might find him and his backer fired down.”
Zachary gasped. “Wow. You‘re really going all out, huh?”
Trevor said calmly, “I‘m not the type to be controlled.” He had come to the entrance, and he looked at Thomas‘ car coldly. A hint of rage surfaced in his eyes. “Time for us young people to take over.”
“True.” Zachary laughed heartily. “Time for those old gits to retire.” He was annoyed by how suffocating those old guys could get. Trying to dictate who we should marry is too much. He was thinking about himself and Trevor. He then invited Trevor, “I bet you haven‘t had dinner yet. Wanna grab a bite cogether?”
Trevor refused, “No.”
Zachary snorted. “Trying to see Emma again?”
“Alright, that‘s it.” Trevor hung up and drove away. It depends on Thomas now. If he and Crystal can accept that I don‘t want anything to do with her, then we can still be friends. But if they refuse, then I won‘t hold back. He did not mind destroying Thomas‘ backers either.
He would not let anyone control him.
The ladies were still happily having dinner in Susanna‘s house when Cerys heard a car passing by. She asked, “Say, will Mr. Zurich come here again?”
The last time he was here, he cared about Emma a lot. As Trevor‘s assistant, Cerys thought that was annoying. She hoped Wesley would not come again, or she would worry for her boss.
Susanna teased, “Someone‘s nervous. Do you like him?”
“No!” Cerys denied.
