Adam couldn't have cared less. He granted the director's request without a second thought.
Who did Jean think she was? She hadn't made any special contributions to the country or the city. She wasn't in the military either; she was just a manipulative woman who Brad had feelings for. There was no way she was entitled to an entire floor.
The once peaceful VIP floor was now bustling with activity as patients were admitted to the rooms on either side of hers, adding to her misery after a sleepless night. Jean had always been a light sleeper, easily awakened by the slightest noise.
The noise from the other patients made it impossible for her to sleep. Even if she did manage to fall asleep, she would be jolted awake soon after. This was nothing short of torture for Jean.
She had thought about calling Brad to complain. Yet, after everything that happened that morning, she no longer had the courage and could only grit her teeth in endurance.
Lynn noticed that Jean had bitten her lower lip so hard it was bleeding. As such, she hastily brought over a cotton swab to stop the bleeding. "Ms. Sawyer, you're bleeding!"
Jean cast a cold, indifferent look at the cotton swab in Lynn's hand and turned her head away, refusing her help. "I don't need it!"
Lynn had intended to console her, but when she noticed how irritable Jean was, she decided against it and left the room. A wave of sadness washed over Jean as she stared at the empty ward.
Adam was unmoved when he was informed about Jean's situation. "This is just the beginning. There's plenty more suffering in store for her. And as long as she's willing to endure it, she'll go through a lot worse. Be sure to help her out."
Whether this "help" was genuine or not, no one could tell.
