"You don't have to, I drove here. You can take a rest at home. I hope that you'll consider my words carefully." Adelaide didn't let Hanna send her home and then left.
The sun shone brightly in the sky and it was still very hot. After walking along an asphalt road for some time, she got on her car. When she started the car, she also turned on the air conditioner.
When Adelaide returned home and opened the door, she saw Antonio sitting on the sofa unexpectedly.
The TV was not on and Antonio was looking out of the window, thinking about something. Hearing the sound of opening the door, Antonio turned around.
He looked straight at Adelaide with sharp eyes. Although Adelaide hadn't done anything wrong, she still became nervous. She lowered her head, wanted to pretend that she didn't see him and was ready to sneak into her room. Unfortunately, Antonio called her when she got only half way.
"Come here." She couldn't tell whether Antonio was happy or angry from his voice.
Adelaide somewhat dared not come close to Antonio. She thought: must I come over when you ask? Why should I listen to you? Humph!
However, in fact, she couldn't help coming a little closer to Antonio. Although she was afraid that Antonio would suddenly lose temper, she felt that she hadn't done anything wrong in the past two days after careful consideration. She thought that Antonio might ask her to come close to him for something else.
No. Antonio was moody and I should keep myself apart from him.
Adelaide made up her mind and stopped, "What's the matter?"
Antonio touched his chin with one hand, "Come here and I'll tell you. How can I tell you when you're so far away from me?"
Adelaide put her hands on her hips, "I'm not far away from you. Besides, I'm not deaf. Just tell me. I'm listening."
Antonio frowned, crossed his legs and asked lazily, "Adelaide, why do I feel that you are afraid of me?"
Her sore spot was touched, but she didn't show the white feather, "Who...How is it possible that...I'm afraid of you...humph!"
"Since you're not afraid of me, come here." Antonio beckoned to Adelaide.
"No." Adelaide refused instantly.
Antonio kept silent for a moment and then continued to ask, "Well, where did you go last night?"
Adelaide's lips twitched, "I went out to play with my best friend and just came back a little late."
As a matter of fact, Antonio had been waiting for Adelaide last night. However, he waited without result. When he was waiting for Adelaide, he stretched out his hand for the mobile phone beside him from time to time. He wanted very much to make a phone call to Adelaide, but he didn't do so in the end because of the awkward situation between them.
He waited until more than 11 o'clock in the evening and Adelaide didn't come back. Out of sight, out of mind. Antonio just gave up waiting and went back to his room to sleep. However, he was still worried because he didn't know where Adelaide went. Therefore, he didn't fall asleep even though he had turned off the light.
He didn't fall asleep until he heard a light sound of opening the door and the sound made by high-heeled shoes at some point.
The next morning, when he was about to go to work, he found that the door of Adelaide's room was not closed well and he looked through the crack between the door and its frame out of curiosity. However, he was surprised that Adelaide wasn't in the room.
He couldn't help feeling a little puzzled and wondered if he had misheard last night.
A moment later, Antonio denied this guess because he was very confident in his hearing. Then there was only one possibility left: Adelaide went out again early in the morning.
