Chapter 1259
Before she even declined, Meredith mocked, “Right, this is a once-in–a–lifetime good offer that other people would die to be in your place. I just don’t know if you are fortunate enough to live with this bliss. Since you are already my aunt’s goddaughter, you should do something too, go on, pour wine for my aunt, and give her a toast.”
Ashlynn did not do it.
Corentin said, “Go on.”
His two simple words reminded Ashlynn that she was supposed to comply and even make sure she did it well.
She had to suppress her emotions, and said coldly, “I do not want to be involved with the Hilton family, thank you for your kind offer.”
What Beth offered was already shocking enough. They did not expect things to take another even more shocking twist.
Ashlynn was declining it?
Meredith was so pissed that she almost slammed the table. “Ashlynn, do you really think you are someone important? Don’t you be so disrespectful.”
“I did not ask for you all to offer me this!” Ashlynn rebutted.
“Ah, I know it. You wanted to keep Corentin to yourself and not let him go, right? But now, you don’t even have your kid anymore. What else do you have to keep him?”
To bring up the kid was undoubtedly an attempt to bring more pressure to the conversation, and the atmosphere immediately turned tense.
Suddenly, everyone heard a loud cracking of the glass, and everyone turned to look at Corentin immediately.
Corentin’s crystal glass was shattered in his bare hands, and the water inside spurted out. There was also blood from the shards cutting into his palm.
It was a bloody sight.
“Corentin, are you alright? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Meredith expressed concerns.
Corentin acted as though he did not hear that. He turned his face around, and his eyes were intimidating, “Give her a toast!”
*Auntie, now that you have your goddaughter, you will still love me as you did, won’t you?” Meredith fawned.
“Why wouldn’t I? You are always the apple of my eye. No one can overtake you,” Beth said.
“Perhaps someone would think otherwise and think that their value inflated overnight!” Meredith hinted.
“No, they won’t.” Beth patted Meredith’s hand. They interacted as though they were mother and daughter.
The two of them had a good time chatting while Ashlynn kneeled on the ground the whole time. No one cared how long she had been kneeling and whether her knees were already numb.
There would also certainly be no one asking if her arm that was still rising was sore.
Even Corentin himself was watching coldly from the side.
The glass in her hand was already shaking, and just when she finally could not stand it any longer, Beth remembered her. She looked down at Ashlynn and said, “Now, as soon as we drink from this glass of wine, you will be my goddaughter. I will… be nice to you.”
