Anne ignored him.
If she were not afraid that Tommy would pull some tricks behind her back, she would have slept with her back facing him.
“Do you remember running to my home and sleeping on my bed when Anthony bullied you as a child?
“I don’t.”
“I know you do. I truly wanted to help you back then,” said Tommy.
Anne knew he was speaking the truth, so she did not refute him. She stared at the ceiling and said, “I think the past Tommy died a long time ago.”
Tommy’s expression was mixed, and he asked, “Are we not able to go back anymore?”
“Instead of asking me this now, you should’ve gone to hell after you killed the people I cared about. No matter how unhappy your childhood was, you can’t hurt others for your own pleasure.” At that moment, Anne did not pity Tommy at all.
“Look at you on your high horse. Has Anthony not killed anybody before? Has Corentin not killed anybody before? Why did you forgive them for killing people but not me? Just because the victims were your friends? This shows how selfish and sinister you are deep down,” said Tommy. novelebook.comThen, he added, “Oh, right. You’ve killed people too. Whose father and whose son did you kill again?”
Anne looked sullen, but she said nothing.
Tommy could not help but chuckle softly when he saw how she looked. “Don’t overthink, and life will be easier.”
“So, you gave yourself a justifiable reason, then went off to kill even more people. It’s not that I don’t want to forgive you. It’s that you’re still not stubbornly unwilling to change. How about you give me the cure and don’t let it go into the market? Then, we’ll start again with a clean slate.” Anne turned to look at him.
Tommy looked at her and asked, “Really?”
“I’ll keep my promise,” Anne said without thinking.
In any case, as Tommy said, she should not overthink it. Who could be sure about what the future would be?
“Alright. I can give you the cure, but you’ll have to stay with me for the rest of your life.”
