Chapter 359 When Anthony‘s sharp and terrifying gaze swept past, Anne immediately held her head low alongside Xander.
“Mr. Marwood.” “Hmm,” Anthony responded and continued walking straight. Xander and Oliver followed him. At the back of the parade was Anne.
Anthony‘s attitude was as though nothing had happened, cold and indifferent. Anne still had her guard up. She wished to be able to turn invisible.
Everyone else was already in the meeting room. No, in fact, Tommy was absent, but this was nothing strange. He was always absent.
Anne sat behind Xander, facing the laptop on her lap.
Once the meeting commenced, she was busy typing down the minutes.
When it was Xander‘s turn to present, she projected the data onto the screen. Whenever they talked about the flaws in the numerical data for the Finance Department, Damian‘s face would twitch as though feeling guilty about it. Anne kept her focus on the laptop as though she only had eyes for the laptop.
She did not dare to look around. She was afraid to look into a scary bottomless pit if she did so.
As long as she kept dodging it, nothing would happen. “I have a matter to announce.” Finally, Ron voiced out. He did not care what other people would think, except for Anthony. Anthony‘s gaze alone was already enough for him to be sweating. “I give away half of my shareholding. There is no implication to the other shareholders. It is merely a change on my end.”
Anthony did not say a word, but his gaze could kill.
Damian was curious. “Who did you give it to?”
Ron felt his throat heavy. “To... Sarah Vallois.”
What? Anne reflexed. Her laptop almost fell off her lap. She looked at Ron with disbelief, and she even tried to observe Anthony‘s eynression out of fear.
Other people in the meeting were mostly indifferent to the news, but that was not the case for Anthony
His aura filled the atmosphere, creating an invisible yet suffocating pressure on everyone. Especially Anne, her fingers pinched onto the hem of her blouse so firmly that her fingers were going to have spasms soon.
“You... You must be feeling nostalgic about your past relationship,” Damian teased. In fact, he wanted to make a fool out of Ron. “I did not expect you to give away your shareholding
Ron explained, “Because Sarah is extremely greedy, I had no other option. Before this, I had already given her a lot of money to get rid of her. I did not expect that, in the end, she would still bug me about this. She said if I didn‘t give it to her, she would be bugging me forever. This is my fault.”
“Impossible!” Anne immediately defended, “My mother had never wanted to bug vou!”
He must be joking! If she admitted, Sarah would be unfortunate, and Anne, as her daughter, would never have peace.
“Otherwise, do you think I would just give away my shares to her? How dare you disagree that your mother is greedy!” Ron asked menacingly.
Anne had no other comments to rebut. Right, what other reasons could she have come up with? She could not think about one at all. “There is also another reason for me to give it to her. It is compensation for you,” Ron said. Anne realized he was talking about what he had said to her on the fifth floor the other day. She thought he was merely saying, without actually meaning it. Why did this escalate into this situation?
This seemed to have proven what Anthony said before: they each had their fair share to pay for.
However, was this a payback?
This was a disaster!
“The Marwood family is at fault to you. I, as the father, had the responsibility to do something. It is an important matter to a woman to be able to reproduce,” Ron said.
