Raising a slight brow, Xavia replied, “…Hasn’t he passed the tests? Besides, Mom and Dad have already approved of him! You already promised to stop pressuring him, remember?”
Her tone was slowly rising, so Ian handed her a glass of water before replying, “Calm down, we’re fine with him. It’s just…”
“…Go on…” muttered Xavia as she took a seat on the couch and stared at him.
“Well… it’s about his mother… She isn’t exactly happy with us…”
…What? What did he mean by- Oh. Recalling how displeased Wendy had earlier been, Xavia asked, “…Did she come over earlier?”
“She did… She said that we shouldn’t have given him such arduous tests, and in the end, she was so upset that she didn’t even allow us to send her off…”
So Wendy had met up with them at the palace instead of actually going shopping earlier… Xavia could only imagine how mad she was while she was on her way back to Zivon’s villa…
It took her a while, but she eventually said, “…Don’t worry, she’s different from the other Burtons. It’s just… Well, she’s only recently reunited with Von, so it’s natural for her to be extra protective of him. I’m sure she doesn’t hold any ill will against us. For context, we met up this evening, and though she initially seemed grumpy, she still treated me very nicely. In fact, there was a time when she used to treat me like her very own daughter…”
Finding her words rather naïve, Ian replied, “…I hope you know that people tend to hurt others when it comes to relationships and gaining profits… At the end of the day, she’s only treating you well because of how well you treat Zivon. If you were to ever mistreat him, then I can safely say that she’ll only ever side with him. In fact, she may even end up hurting you! Though she remained mostly silent earlier, her attitude made it clear that she was displeased with us.”
