Startled by his words, Xavia ended up remaining silent for the longest time… and in the end, Mark chuckled as he replied, “I’m kidding. But really, if my bride isn’t going to be you, then I don’t care who I marry… Honestly, Stella’s pretty capable, so I should feel lucky to be able to marry her. Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be fine…”
Pursing her lips, Xavia muttered, “…Are you sure…? Stefan made the same decision, and in the end, he-”
“He remarried Lily, you know?” replied Mark, instantly causing Xavia’s eyes to widen. When had that happened?
Honestly, finding out through Mark made her feel a little guilty. After all, she had been so busy that she had failed to keep tabs with those close to her… That aside, though remarrying Lily wasn’t exactly the best-case scenario, it wasn’t the worst one either.
Her train of thought was cut short when Mark added, “Also, while marriages like mine may seem sad to those who married out of love, you should know that doing this is important for me since it’ll allow me to move on. With that said, please don’t feel guilty about this, Xavia. Besides, as Stella said, if we really can’t tolerate each other, then we can just get a divorce in the future.”
Though she was unsure whether he was just saying all this to make her feel better, Xavia really didn’t know how else to proceed with all this. Maybe this marriage really was for the best… With that, she eventually replied, “…Alright, then… I sincerely hope that you and Stella have a wonderful marriage… May you eventually learn how to love each other…”
Smiling subtly, Mark gently brushed a petal off Xavia’s head before saying, “I appreciate it, Xavia…”
Following that, Mark re-entered the house whereas Xavia remained in the garden for a while… She no longer felt as pressured as before, and as she looked up at the moon, she closed her eyes and hoped that Mark would find true happiness through this wedding…
