Following that, she bolted over to the nearest bathroom she could find… and the second she entered a cubicle, she sat on the toilet and took a deep breath. Why the hell was she feeling so dizzy…? Though the discomfort came in waves, it thankfully subsided after a few minutes…
However, just to be safe, she sent Matthew a message that stated, ‘I felt a sudden surge of discomfort, and my stomach hurt so much that I almost vomited. This lasted for a few minutes, and I wonder what that could mean, Dr. Rudner…’
She assumed that those were signs of anemia or something, but to her surprise, Matthew called her shortly after.
“Please come to the hospital as soon as possible. I have a feeling that it’s the aftereffects of that drug…”
…Drug? Wait… Was he talking about the one that Jenna had used on her before this? The one that had almost caused her to die? Though it was true that Matthew had warned her of aftereffects in the past, it had been so long ago that she had almost forgotten about it… To think that it would start acting up now… Not wanting to delay things any longer, Xavia then told the two that she needed to get something from Matthew.
Upon arriving, she told the two to wait downstairs for her… But upon entering the office, she was surprised to see Mark there as well.
Looking incredibly worried, Mark walked up to her and asked, “How are you feeling? Don’t worry, I’m only here because I was already with Matthew when you first texted him. Naturally, I couldn’t just sit still knowing that you were unwell…”
Nodding in response, Xavia replied, “I see… Thanks for the concern. Um… Is it possible to run the check-up now, Dr. Rudner?”
“Can do,” replied Matthew who knew about her big day tomorrow. With that, he began diagnosing her…
About twenty minutes later, he ultimately said, “…From what I’ve gathered, your body seems to be in stable condition… However, I’ve also detected something odd growing within you. I need a bit of time to research your condition… three days, to be exact.”
