Naturally, everyone turned to face the voice… and there, standing in a dark blue shirt and some black slacks, was Mark. To think that he had actually come over!
Though everyone was shocked, Xavia was undoubtedly the most startled. Hadn’t he still been in S City when she last contacted him? And why hadn’t he told her that he would come over then? Whatever the case was, her shock soon turned to glee as she walked up to him and said, “You’re not late at all! That aside, when did you arrive at Darlsbury?”
Chuckling in response, Mark replied, “I’m actually here on business, but since I heard that you were coming home today, I figured that I may as well pay a visit. Anyway, here are some gifts for you and the newborns.”
Looking at the three gifts that Mark had given to her, Xavia couldn’t help but feel increasingly awkward. After all, she wasn’t really used to gift-giving and receiving, especially among those she was familiar with…
Just as she was wondering whether she should decline, Mark thankfully changed the topic by walking over to the babies and saying, “So these two are Frank and Fabiola? They have Young Master Burton’s nose and your eyes… With how adorable they are, I’m sure everyone will love them. Speaking of adorable, come over here, Maison, Yulia. Let me see whether you two have grown any taller.”
Quickly running up to him, the twins then replied, “I’ve grown a bit, Uncle! And so has my sister!”
“Oh? So you’re taking note of your body’s changes from time to time? Atta boy. Speaking of which, I got you two some gifts too,” said Mark as he patted their heads.
Naturally, the kids were overjoyed to hear that. Sure, they weren’t about to fight for attention with their new siblings, but the fact that they were still remembered by someone made them super happy.
