Chapter 32.
“Why is
isn’t he crying?” My voice broke as I clutched my son close.
“Elena, that child did not survive. “Looking at my Grandmother’s heartbroken eyes I shook my head stubbornly.
“Stop assuming things, he is just silent because he wants to hear a lullaby. Once I sing it myself he will open his eyes.” I sang amidst sobs for moments to come only for the child to not respond at all
Outside the ward, Alex stood frozen, my heartbroken symphony stabbing through his soul. He backed against the wall, legs threatening to give out with pain blossoming in his heart.
“Baby please, please don’t leave your mother, you both are my strength and reason to live..” Tears streamed down my face as the sobs grew uncontrollable, filling the closed mom with a haunting despair.
Damien leaned down, his hands wrapping around my frame tightly as we both clutched onto the children crying.
It was at that moment an astonishing miracle happened.
w line wobbled in shock as I gasped,
The baby that was declared dead suddenly stimed, a tiny leg kicking weakly against my arm. My lips pulling back to look at him.
“Grandma! Damien!” I whispered shocked, my voice filled with glittering hope
Damien cradled my babies in his arms, bowing down by my side and soon my son let out a soft, wavering cry. The twins started crying simultaneously
“Oh, thank God” My grandma gasped, whispering, pressing a kiss to my temple.
“Yes Elena, just as you said he’s okay. They’re both okay.”
held both babies close. “Thank you” I murmured, my voice trembling. “Thank you for coming back to me.”
It was then Alex entered inside, his eyes locked on the fragile infants bundle against my chest.
Damien took my babies protectively when he saw Alex’s intention to snatch them from my arm, the veins on his forehead bulging with rage.2
“Those are my sons, mine and Elena’s. Give them here.” Alex stood with clenched fists, voice trembling with barely contained fury “Elena baby, I have every right to see them, please.” Alex growled, losing his patience. “They’re my children Damien you fucker” Damien’s gaze was icy. “They are yours?” He laughed dangerously with barely contained violence. “Since you have framed Elena already. then how about I convert all those lies to truth? From now onwards these children are mine just like Elena.
“Damien!” Alex screamed before rushing to deliver a blow to Damien only to be stopped by my scream.
“Get out! Stop this foolishness Alexd lethal bloodshot eyes met mine as Alex smiled taking a step closer, his voice rising.!
Tve apologized. The begged. What more do you want from me? Elena you cannot leave me, hit me all you want, hurt me as you like but don’t think about leaving me alone. They are my children-”
“My son almost died because of you! Get out before I kill you, Leave. Now I glared at Alex making his face twist in anguish and rage. “You’ll regret this, Elena, sooner or later I will have you!” he spat, his voice low and venomous
But before he could say more, the door opened, and two burly security guards stepped inside, dragging Alex outside.
“This isn’t over.”
The guards escorted him out, his protests echoing down the hallway. Once outside, Alex stormed to his car tainted with blood marks. slamming the door shut.
When he followed the blood trail his eyes closed with guilt and heartache.
