The fact that Noah was unable to speak was a grief to Harrison. After all, the accident happened in his place when Joseph let him take care of Noah. He felt guilty for so many years because of this incident and always thought he didn’t take good care of Noah at that time.
He smelled a rat in the accident back then when being mentioned by Hayden.
After dinner, Mark showed Hayden and the others to the door outside the mansion and said through the car door, “Don’t worry, Ms. Downey. Although the babysitter was fired, it’s still on record. I’ll have a check tonight and notify you if there are any clues.”
“Alright. Sorry for the trouble.”
Hayden nodded as a way of showing thanks.
On their way home, the two kids fell asleep in the back seat. Benjamin looked through the rear-view mirror and saw that Hayden was preoccupied. He asked, “Are you worried about running out of steam to continue investigating even if you get any clues?”
Hayden came back to her senses and nodded, “How can you know what I’m thinking?”
“I’m just trying to help.”
Benjamin said faintly, “If you trust me, you can just leave it to me.”
“To you?” Hayden was stunned, “What are you going to do?”
“First of all, we need to get the information of all the babysitters who took care of Noah back then to find out all of those who might be related to this incident. We would then determine their living status now and their bank account status to check if there’s any suspicious transfer when Noah had the accident at that time. Then you should have guessed what happens next.”
He was clearly organized and logical.
But she was puzzled about him, “Benjamin, did you remember something?”
“A little. I think this has something to do with my work in the past.” Benjamin smiled and scoffed, “Maybe I was a police.”
“Impossible.” Hayden twitched her mouth, “You’re at most in your twenties. Not even qualified to have your internship or being graduated too.”
Benjamin was speechless, and his face darkened in the night.
Hayden didn’t go to work the following day. She received Freddie’s call in the early morning, and they would meet up at Freddie’s management company to talk about the PR crisis.
“Sorry for causing you all these troubles again, Hayden.” Freddie felt guilty as he saw Hayden. “Those reporters are going insane. Writing anything they want.”
Hayden patted Freddie’s shoulder and let his assistant take Noah and Stella Downey out for fun.
“There was nothing wrong with this matter, but a new situation came up this morning.” Freddie’s agent, Atwood Bartley, sighed and pulled a long face.
“Chelsea Downey.” Hayden interrupted. “I saw the news on my way here. She dared to do anything.”
In the wee hours, someone who claimed to be a bestie of Freddie’s girlfriend broke the news that Freddie who had a good relationship with his girlfriend, was kept being harassed by Hayden. Freddie had no choice but to compromise out of gratitude, but also Hayden’s strong background.
It was all nonsense, but the netizens believed it and kept sharing the post.
“We have sent a lawyer’s letter, and the court has accepted it. But a defamation lawsuit takes a lot of time to deal with. And if we take no action, this matter might ruin Freddie’s career. He just started his career and not even steady yet.”
“Just let it be then.” Freddie was gloomy, “I would never use your plan even if I have to end my career now.”
“A plan?” Hayden frowned, “What is your plan to deal with this?”
Freddie looked at Atwood, “Hayden’s here. Do you dare to tell her about it?”
Atwood observed Hayden, “We’re thinking of how about Freddie admits his relationship with Chelsea. We had contacted Chelsea, and she promised to clarify the photos for us.”
