Kevin Jackman became twitchy for Joseph Beckham had read his mind, “Can’t I? Alayna will be fine.”
“You’re wrong.”
Joseph said firmly, “Your parents will surely check on the person you want to marry in the future. But if then they find out that you had concealed so much from them in Alayna’s medical history, they will definitely disapprove you two being together.”
Joseph had known Kevin’s parents since he was a child. They indulged Kevin in doing everything as he was an adult already, but they couldn’t bear any deception nor concealment. It was not hard to imagine that they would detest such a girl after knowing Kevin had concealed such an issue to them.
“You can do that if you do want to risk Alayna being disliked by your parents for the rest of her life.”
Joseph’s words had cut off Kevin’s plan.
Kevin’s brows were drawn together in a deep frown.
“In fact, it’s no big deal at all. I’m not afraid of my parents not accepting Alayna after they knew it. Just that, I’m fear of Alayna being angry if I took it upon myself to announce our relationship when she was still delirious. We are actually still in the breakup period.”
Kevin took Alayna back home just because she was fuzzy-headed at that moment.
Up to this point, Joseph had no reason to continue. He patted on his shoulder, “I’ve done talking. For the rest, Hayden will talk to you.”
“Alright.”
Kevin nodded.
Hayden Downey was Alayna’s only best friend as well as a secret sharer. And Hayden was also the only one who Alayna told her about her condition personally. Now that Hayden was here, naturally, she had words for him.
After a while, Hayden came out of the bedroom.
Joseph was sensible too, and he got up, “I’ll go to the garage and bring the car downstairs.”
After saying that, he gave Hayden a look and left.
“Take a seat.”
“No need.”
Hayden said faintly, “Seems like you didn’t take Joseph’s words.”
“I’ve taken it in.”
Kevin explained, “It’s all good words for my own sake. But when thinking about it, he didn’t even consider Alayna. After all, he didn’t put himself in my place.”
“However, I’m in Alayna’s place.” Hayden had an acute sight, “The words that I’m going to say may be unpleasant for you.”
“Go ahead. I’m ready for it. I’ve prepared for all of this since the day I learned about Alayna’s medical history.”
“Have you ever prepared that one day if you can’t hold it on anymore and you have no choice but to give up on her?”
Hayden spoke in earnest, without any sense of joking or irony, asking this very question.
One day if you didn’t love her anymore, or you were tired of your life and could no longer afford her life too, what should she do?
Kevin clenched his fists, “Hold on.”
After saying this, he walked to the open reading area in the corner, pulled open the door of the bottom-level bookcase, and moved an aluminium portable safe out.
