Immersing herself in a few moments of pondering, Hayden said, “Actually, it’s ok if you want to tell me later.”
In the mellow lights, Benjamin saw her smile. It’s filled with care and as warm as it has always been.
“You already knew?” he asked.
Hayden shook her head, “not the details. I just know that you probably remember your past.”
“Then why are you still…”
“Still pretending that I don’t know anything?”
Hayden sighed, “after all, I hit you. When I took you to hospital, you were in rags. I thought you were a tramp. Besides, you would’ve long left if you want to. I guess you have some secret that you don’t want to tell about.”
Benjamin was moved and awkward at the same time. After all, being regarded as a tramp was not much a moving thing.
“Noted.” her eyes blinked, “You are a junior in the Police University. I wouldn’t have thought of taking care of you for the whole life if you had told me earlier.”
Moved, Benjamin paused as his heart beat did the same. After a while, he held Hayden’s hands.
“You’re so kind, Hayden.”
“Indeed I am. Don’t need you to tell me that.”
“How about you break up with Joseph, there’s so much drama going on in their family. Be with you, I will take care of you and Stella all my life.”
“You?” rolling her eyes at him, Hayden flapped his hands as she took her hands out of his.
“How could you, a junior in college, say something like that? You are still asking your parents for money, aren’t you?”
“I’m not. I earn.”
“You do? Then why are you still living in my house, eating my food for free?” Hayden raised her eyebrows and stared at him in a aggressive way, asking for his explanation.
“No, I don’t have money,” he changed his words immediately, “I just…”
“Alright, I’m just kidding. Stay as long as you want, nobody’s kicking you out.”
She giggled, “Want some more noodles? There’s still some in the pot.”
Benjamin then felt relieved, replied with a smile.
“Of course.”
He felt so at ease to finally get the secret off his chest. He lied so much to others that it almost became a habit, but somehow he just felt so guilty lying to Hayden.
The news of Yi-Bai’s malicious suppression on Green Lemon dominated the press industry for several days. Hayden didn’t arrange that, but it wouldn't be difficult to figure who put up the retaliation.
Considering the public attention this farce had got, it would be so out of Edison’s character that he never made a call to offer any help.
Hayden made a call to Edison to say thanks the day Joann Group notified her that she got the bid.
“Joann gave the contract to Green Lemon. Thank you, Edison.”
Edison’s voice was teasing on the phone.
