Luckily, Noah took his stuff and ran to Hayden directly, throwing himself into Hayden’s arm. There were too many people, so he still did not speak.
Hayden bent down and pat the kids on their heads, with her eyes fixed on somewhere else.
While eating, Harrison said in a meaningful way, “Hayden, please stay for a moment after the party. I have something to tell you, and it’s about Noah.”
Listening to this, Hayden glimpsed at Joseph and acted as usual, although she was digging her nails into her palm.
It seemed that Harrison had known everything. And that was the reason why Pola was here.
After a while, Hayden saw Pola went to the bathroom. And she stood up as well.
“Where are you going?”
Joseph was feeding Noah, asking.
Hayden answered calmly, “I need to go to the restroom, be right back.”
Both Joseph and Harrison did not know the truth, but she and Pola knew. Hayden had to figure out Pola’s intention.
The restroom was far from the hall. Hayden walked along several corridors. Pola was washing her hands when Hayden entered the restroom. She was thin and pretty, although she looked a bit haggard with her face reflected in the mirror.
“Ms. Downey,” Pola saw Hayden in the mirror. She went blank for a second and forced a smile, “I didn’t say Hi to you just now because there were too many people out there. Sorry about that.”
“There are just you and me, stop that.”
Hayden approached, glaring at Pola coldly, “What do you want?”
Pola frowned, “Ms. Downey, I don’t understand.”
“You are Noah’s mother? The surrogate mother six years ago?” Hayden asked bluntly with a hostile glare, “Are you sure?”
Pola did not dare to look into Hayden’s eyes. She took several steps backward, “Ms. Downey, I don’t want to be your rival. I just want to meet my son before I go to Britain a year later. You’re still the future Mrs. Beckham which won’t be challenged by me.”
“Stop being pretentious!” Hayden’s eyes had grown ice-cold, “You are not Noah’s mother at all. Who sent you to do this? What do you want?”
Pola stared at Hayden’s angry face and sneered, “Ms. Downey, I’m trying to keep polite. I don’t know what you are suspecting. If I’m not, who would be his mother? You?”
Hayden’s expression suddenly altered and she felt a drumming in her temples.
She sensed that Pola knew everything. She might even know that Hayden was Noah’s mother, but she knew Hayden would not acknowledge, so she took advantage of that with unknown motive.
“What do you want to do exactly?” Hayden lowered her voice, trying to intimidate Pola, “I’ll do anything for the sake of Noah.”
“Nothing.” Pola looked down at her nails which were vanished a shade of transparent nail polish. Her pink nails made her looked more tender and reserved. But such tenderness disappeared when she began to speak, “I don’t think there is any problem if a mother wants to meet her son.”
No matter what Hayden said, Pola would not admit that she was a liar. She had made up her perfect excuse, so Hayden was unable to retort. Hayden’s hands were shaking with rage.
On the other side of dining hall, Harrison was wondering why Hayden did not come back, “Joseph, why did Hayden go out for a long time? Go see her.”
Joseph looked at the entrance and caught a sight of the southeast corner of the hall. He found Pola wasn’t sitting at the table either. He got a bit nervous suddenly.
