She examined her own body in bath and then was relieved.
Although she had no memory of last night, her body wouldn’t lie to her.
Nothing happened last night.
After her shower, she started collecting any possible evidence in the room. It was the watch that she first laid eyes on. It had to be Lyon’s if she was mistaken.
So it was Lyon who took her to the room last night, then her clothes…
The whole thing made little sense. She couldn’t hesitate to call Lyon.
It rang for quite a long while before the call was answered. And the first thing Hayden heard was the announcement of the airport.
“Where are you, Lyon?” she frowned.
“The airport.”
Lyon sounded much more aloof than usual. He sounded like a totally different person. “I’m waiting for my flight. I’m checking in in five minutes, I’ve been waiting for your call.”
Hayden paused a second.
“What do you mean? What happened last night?”
“Nothing. That’s the only thing I can do now.” Lyon sounded conflicted. “I can’t tell you much. But you’ll find out soon. I’m sorry, Hayden, really.”
“Hello?” Hayden had more questions to ask but Lyon hung up. When she dialed him once again, she could only hear the machine.
In the airport, Lyon took a check on his phone. A message just came in, notifying him that a transfer had made into his account. He laughed, mocking himself. He took a long breath out when his assistant told him to line up. Turning his phone off, he toss his phone card into the trash bin.
He probably would never come back in this city again.
The plane left a streak in the sky above Nanking, a city where some leave in haste, the other stay to face their ordeal.
Hayden received a call from Anna after she left the hotel. Anna told her a contract they had long been negotiating over was finally concluded and asked her to sign the contact at the golf court downtown this afternoon.
So Hayden finally went back home and took another shower and changed.
When she was doing her makeup, looking into the mirror, she suddenly realized how tough she had become now. She wouldn’t have stayed calm if it was a few years ago.
How she took it was simple. It’s not a big deal if nothing happened.
2 p.m., Hayden found Anna outside the golf court looking for her.
“Right here.”
Hayden rolled the window down and beckoned at Anna.
Anna trotted and got in the car. The court was exclusive for members, Anna couldn’t get in without Hayden’s company.
“Sorry I’m a little late.”
“It’s ok, I just got here a minute ago.” Anna buckled up. “This program with HM Group Have been long negotiated. The team was going to throw in the towel but we got a call from HM Groupthis morning. They said they’re satisfied with our new quotation and agreed to sign a contact.”
“That’s it? They didn’t say anything else?” Hayden was incredulous, “I heard that HM Group is a really tricky company to do business with, their assessing team in particular. Didn’t they say anything about visiting our company?”
