Sure enough, Sophie opened the door and found Ysabelle standing outside. That was fast. She must have come right after hanging up!

As soon as Sophie opened the door, Ysabelle leaped into the former’s arms.

“Do you know how worried I’ve been for you, Sophie? I couldn’t even eat!”

Sophie smiled.

“Didn’t I tell you no harm would come to me?” Despite that, they’re still so worried.

“I was afraid that something unforeseen might happen to you! You’ve no idea how the incident in Jetroina scared me.”

“Come inside.”

Ysabelle entered.

“Where is Uncle Tristan? It was too much of him to stop me from coming in. Why do people like him exist?”

I’m not trying to compete with him. I just wanted to visit. Was that necessary?

“He’s in the kitchen.”

Despite having complained about her uncle at length over the phone, she did not dare say much else upon finding out that he was in the kitchen.

Ysabelle snuggled on the couch. “Let’s have dinner tonight! It’s been a while since we had a meal together. By the way, Ms. Yandell arranged a program for me. Do you think I should take it?”

“Since Ms. Yandell was the one who arranged it for you. I think it should be fine.” Xandra is a legend in the entertainment industry. Nothing would go wrong if she were the one to make the arrangements.

“I really wanted to perform in Jetroina!”

“You don’t have many fans there, so there’s no rush.”

“I don’t get what you are saying. I’ve broken up with him. Why should I avoid him if there’s nothing going on between us?”

Sophie poured her a glass of water.

“Are you two really breaking up?” Having been busy with the incident with Nicholas, she had not managed.

Ysabelle must be having an awful couple of days.

“Mmm. 1 have made up my mind.” Breaking up is for the best. There’s nothing left to salvage. “I just want to focus on singing right now, Sophic.”

“Singing would not hinder your love life at all. Put it this way: Felix is a decent man. You might never find somebody like him again if you let him go.

Everybody knew how gentle and sweet Felix was with Ysabelle.

Ysabelle fell silent.

“Could you tell me what happened?” Sophie coaxed in an attempt to put in a good word for Felix.

“Nothing much. It’s just the feeling that we may not be compatible. Seeing as it’s so difficult being with me, we’re better off apart.”

Sophie was momentarily struck dumb.

What sort of an excuse is that?

“I know I’m not all that good, Sophie, but I don’t want to be with him anymore.”

It’s not like I have fallen for somebody else. I just want to end things between us.

“We don’t have to discuss this any further since you’ve made up your mind. Your happiness is what matters.
