He had attempted to call Sean the moment he got off the call with Naomi, but Sean's line was busy. Charles knew that he was probably speaking to Naomi, so he tried not to bombard Sean with even more calls.
However, about ten minutes had passed since his last call, so Charles was certain that Sean would be free now.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed cannot be reached at the moment…"
Charles was surprised. He froze in shock, then put down his phone.
Was Sean still on the phone with Naomi?
Charles glanced at the time. It was already midnight.
Suddenly, the air stewardess's voice rang out over the public announcement system, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard our flight. We will be taking off in fifteen minutes. Please make sure your seatbelts are fastened…"
Charles decided to send a message to Sean instead, and then he texted Naomi to let her know of his situation.
After that, Charles got on the phone with his mother to tell her he would be arriving soon. Shortly after that, the flight took off, so Charles switched off his phone.
Meanwhile, Sean had been busy tending to Amelia. He tried to call her immediately after getting off the phone with Naomi, but Amelia declined his call. Therefore, he had no choice but to speak directly to the hotel manager and send him to check on Amelia instead. After that, he sent a doctor to Amelia's hotel to have a look.
Sean had made a handful of calls and was finally relieved when the hotel manager told him the ambulance had arrived and was on their way to the hospital.
After getting off the call with the hotel manager, Sean called the doctor himself. He had already arranged for the ambulance to head to the nearest hospital and assigned a doctor to standby when Amelia arrived. The doctor was to report to him directly once he had seen Amelia.
All of a sudden, a message popped up on Sean's screen. It was Charles.
Sean suddenly recalled that he had missed Charles' call while making the necessary arrangements for Amelia. He immediately clicked on the message.
[Naomi told me Amelia wasn't feeling well. She asked me for your number, so I gave it to her. I'm on my way back to San Angelino for an urgent issue. I've already boarded the flight, so I'll be unreachable until 1:40 a.m. I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight, so just let me know if there's anything I can help with. Call me then.]
