However, Naomi was oblivious to this. She was so captivated by the sight before her that she did not even notice Scott next to her. Her eyes were twinkling with curiosity as she glanced around her.
Finally, she stepped forward and took a stroll amongst the crowd. She gazed around her in awe at the bustling crowd and the shop vendors selling odd handcrafts. She took in the sight before her like a hungry child.
To any ordinary folk, this would appear only to be a simple market selling the odd things, but to Naomi, her entire career revolved around culture.
Scott followed her as she weaved her way through the crowd. Occasionally, he would reach out and gently shield her from the person who was about to bump into her. She did not even seem to notice what he was doing for her, but his gaze was fixated on her as she gazed around the place in excitement and curiosity.
Finally, she found herself standing in front of a vendor who was selling handmade purses. The purses were all intricately made with beautiful stitchings. Some of them were flowers or animals, whereas some told stories among the colorful threads.
According to Herland culture, these purses symbolized the love between two people if they exchanged them with each other.
Naomi was struck with inspiration; perhaps she could use the same concept in her wood carvings. She would carve a different series, each representing love, family, and friendship. She could carve stories and other symbolic creatures or objects that represented the meaning behind them.
In Naomi's opinion, common interest was the most important thing that brought people together. It did not matter whether it was love, family, or friendship. Either way, the world would not be able to run if people did not form meaningful connections with each other. Hence, she wanted to incorporate this into her wood carvings.
Since she had collected plenty of information regarding Herland's culture in the past week or so, she would combine the idea of human relationships with Herland's culture. She decided she would pitch this idea to everyone once she had organized all her notes about Herland.
Naomi scrutinized the purses carefully. Scott finally tore his gaze away from her face and turned to see what she was looking at.
To him, these purses did not look like anything special. They looked cheap and simple, and even the material looked flimsy.
They did not look like anything he would want for himself, but he had to admit that the stitching was beautiful.
Scott's gaze finally landed on a purse stitched with beautiful golden orchid patterns. He reached out to take it down for a closer look.
The man selling the purses noticed this. He glanced at Naomi, then at Scott, and immediately grinned. "Hello, Mister. This purse is nice, eh? Why don't you buy one for your girlfriend?"
