Chapter 79
Naomi stopped as she glanced at Dean, seeing that it was his phone ringing.
Retrieving his phone, Dean answered the call. Naomi withdrew her gaze and continued walking with
Donna.
Donna looked at Naomi. “What were you about to say?”
Naomi replied, “I wanted to ask how John is doing.”
“John?” Donna furrowed her brow as memories surfaced in her eyes. “I haven’t seen that kid for quite a while. Must be gearing up for the college entrance exams, right?”
“Come to think of it, the last time I saw him was a few months ago, around New Year. Yes, it was during that time! He’s grown so tall since then, even taller than your uncle. Handsome kid, he is. Adults really like him.”
Who would not like a good–looking child? When it came to talking about John Hopps, Donna could not help but get excited.
“We were joking back then, saying he’d be surrounded by a bunch of girls in the future. Your uncle and aunt won’t have to worry about finding a daughter–in–law.”
Listening to Donna, Naomi felt that the kid had not changed. What she saw just moments ago, however, was different.
Naomi lowered her gaze, contemplating deeply.
“Now that he’s going to college, he’ll probably leave Horizon City, right? Your aunt said he applied to Willowstown University.”
“Willowstown University?” Naomi paused, looking at Donna.
Willowstown University was a well–known institution in the country with a long history and a track record of nurturing top talents for the nation. It was not easy to get admitted, but for a boy like John, it should be no problem.
However, Naomi remembered that John’s original plan was to attend the same university she was in. He had mentioned it before.
Seeing Naomi’s expression, Donna chuckled. “Surprised, aren’t you? Even none of us saw this coming.
“After all, that child said he wanted to get into the same university. Who would’ve thought he’d change his mind? He worked hard in his studies and consistently ranked first in the class.”
Seeing John’s state just moments ago, Naomi was most concerned about his academic performance. That was why she specifically asked Donna about him. Hearing her mother’s words, however, she felt relieved.
2/2
“Consistently ranked first?”
Wyed Almost every exam over these three years, your aunt would always say John’s success is undeniable. He’s such a worry free child. He’s filial, sensible, obedient, and excels in his studies. He doesn’t give your uncle and aunt any worries. Where else can you find such a child?”
As she spoke, Donna thought of Naomi and looked at her with a smile. “But there’s also you, my outstanding daughter! And that Charles is a good kid, too… There are quite a few good kids.”
Ina was extremely satisfied with her daughter, lightly patting Naomi’s hand as she smiled broadly.
