Chapter 168
Until that moment, Yasmine never imagined being in such a situation, especially facing Yonas. Irene served him some food and chatted with him intimately in words Yasmine couldn’t understand.
Awkwardness piled on as Yasmine sipped her cup of water, Paragon Hotel’s signature aroma wafting through the air. As soon as she settled in, Chuck quickened his pace in serving the dishes, leaving promptly after.
“Ms. Sanchez, does Yoselin need to continue treatment?” Irene asked.
“For now, we can only say the condition is temporarily stable, but it’s not fully cured. If there’s another shock, there’s still a chance it could recur. M**al illnesses are different from physical ones; they’re hard to cure,” Yasmine explained.
Irene lifted her cup and said, “Then please take good care of us, Ms. Sanchez.” She took a sip, set the cup down, and turned to Yonas, “Yonas, don’t keep that cold expression; you’ll scare Ms. Sanchez away.”
For some reason, Yasmine felt a pang in her heart and spoke up suddenly. “Ms. White, haven’t you heard? About Yonas and me, I thought the news was all over the place before. I assumed you would’ve caught wind of it. It seems Yonas hasn’t told
you.”
The smile on Irene’s face faded slightly, and her gaze flickered from Yonas to Yasmine. “I really didn’t know that. Yonas told me you two were just friends?”
Yasmine looked at Yonas, puzzled. “Oh? Is that what he told you?”
“Yes, so, Ms. Sanchez, care to enlighten me? Or is there more to your relationship?” Irene’s gaze was complicated as she looked at Yasmine, a coldness evident in her eyes.
Yasmine put down her fork and gave a self-deprecating smile. “Maybe I was just overthinking it. Since Mr. Russell told you we’re friends, then, from now on, we are, indeed, just friends.”
“What Ms. Sanchez said really left me confused.”
Yasmine wiped away her smile. She couldn’t pretend to be strong anymore. Since Yonas told Irene they were just friends, she’d have to admit it too. From now on, she and Yonas were just ordinary friends. “I won’t disturb you two any longer,” she said, turning away without looking back. Irene wanted to ask Yonas something, but she saw him rush out after Yasmine.
“Yasmine!” Yonas couldn’t hold it in any longer. He chased after her, wanting nothing more than to hold her in his arms.
But Yasmine pushed him away and coldly asked, “Mr. Russell, you’re overstepping! We’re just ordinary friends, maybe not even that. I’m only your sister’s therapist, nothing more. It wouldn’t look good if Ms. White saw us.”
“Yasmine, I’m sorry,” Yonas said.
“Sorry for what? For deceiving me all this time or for Irene?” Yasmine asked, pronouncing each word clearly.
Yonas stood helplessly in front of her. “Yasmine, from the beginning, my feelings for you have been genuine, even now.” “Then why did you tell Irene those things?”
I can’t explain it right now, but you have to trust me. I will-
“Enough! Yasmine shouted. “I’ve heard this too many times already, Yonas. If you say you like me, then sort out your situation with Irene first. Don’t tell me you can’t see she’s into you? And if you’re serious about liking me, don’t just tell her we’re just friends.” She paused before continuing, “But before all that, let’s break up.”

She hid her trembling fingers behind her back, but she had to make a decision. She’s not the type to drag things out; it’s better to end things now before they turn rotten and vile.
“Yasmine…” Yonas felt a chill run through his entire body, unable to even move his feet.
Yasmine didn’t know how she managed to leave, not even wanting to look back.

At the Flynn residence, Helen’s face was ashen with fear. The phone in her hand kept ringing incessantly. After hanging up on Dalton, her own phone started ringing. Switching it off, the phone rang again on the landline. Afraid others might overhear, she quickly answered, “What do you want?! Stop contacting me!”
“Fine, just wait until you watch the news tonight,” came the confident voice from the other end.
“No! Don’t send it!” she clutched the phone nervously.
“If you don’t want me to upload this video online, meet me at the Frostvale Hotel! I’ll give you half an hour. If I don’t see you in thirty minutes, the video goes straight to all major media outlets,” Dalton said before hanging up.
Helen was trembling with fear, unsure of what to do, but she knew Dalton wasn’t lying to her. She glanced at her phone screen and, with a shiver, leapt out of bed and dashed out in a frenzy.
Upon arriving at the Frostvale Hotel, she discovered that Dalton was staying in the same room as before. Instinctively, she glanced around, noticing that the blood on the floor was gone, as if that event only existed in her mind. “Dalton…” she stuttered.
Dalton moved closer to Helen, sn**hing the phone from her hand. “You witch!” he shouted, raising his hand to strike her hard, making Helen’s face turn aside. “You even dared to stab me last time! I almost died because of you. Don’t think your actions are flawless. I’ve already given the memory card to a friend’s phone. If anything happens to me, you’ll die too.” Dalton laughed maniacally.
“Dalton, you only provoked me last time. I was just defending myself. I never really intended to kill you,” Helen explained. Now there was no one else in the room except her and Dalton, and if Dalton wanted to kill her, it would be easy.
“Shut up! Did you bring the money?” Dalton asked.
“You never mentioned anything about bringing money over the phone!” Helen exclaimed.
Dalton yanked her hair, forcing her head back. “Do you still dare to haggle with me? Don’t forget last time you only brought
8 million. I’m giving you three days to come up with the rest. Have you lost your memory?”
Helen tried to break free, but she couldn’t. “Don’t hurt me. I have a way to get you the money!”
Dalton asked, “What is it?”
“Then you need to cooperate with me. I can help you get even more money,” Helen said.
Hearing “more money,” Dalton’s interest was piqued, and he let go of Helen with a wicked grin.
After leaving the Paragon Hotel, Yasinine appeared dazed. She had been wondering if Yonas had fallen for someone else. It wasn’t until she saw Irene today that she realized Yonas didn’t seem happy, even carrying a hint of melancholy. Was it because of her? Or was it because of Irene?

Taking a deep breath, like a deflated balloon, the tension in her nerves suddenly relaxed. She went limp like a wilted flower.
Yoselin had returned to the Russell residence, and Nathan, seeing her current state, was delighted and asked her to stay a few more days. Meanwhile, Yasmine also had plans to go abroad and couldn’t look after Yoselin. Tomorrow, Yasmine would board the plane, saying goodbye to the city for a while.
Just getting out of the car, Yasmine walked into the Sanchez residence. She was about to take out the keys to open the door when she suddenly heard the sound of crying.
