Faced with these probing questions, Effie looked away, embarrassed. She stood near the hotel, and as Yasmine moved closer. Effie too found herself increasingly under the journalists‘ scrutiny. 

Aside from Yasmine, who clinched the top spot, Effie naturally became the focus of the reporters‘ attention. In previous Dekker Competitions. there have indeed been instances where contestants schemed to sabotage others. Ukially, those who get disqualified would leave Saint’s Haven feeling ashamed, but not Effie. She even showed up at the award ceremony in the hall. 

Before long, many of the journalists surrounding Yasmine rushed over to Effie. 

“Ms. Lynch, how do you feel about your results being disqualified?” 

“Did you consider the risk of disqualification

Effie recoiled in terror, backing up until her back hit the cold wall. It was only then she realized she had nowhere left to go. The intimidating words pierced her cars, and she was helplessly desperate to escape. 

Yasmine had already entered the hotel, and the staff had stopped the reporters following her. Seizing the chance, Effie sneaked into the hotel as well. She leaned against the hallway, panting, with her hands cold as ice. On the day her results were annulled, she’d thought about going back. But she refused to accept it. She wanted to see who would actually take first place. 

As Effie was catching her breath, she suddenly noticed someone at her feet and looked up to see Yasmine. “You! Here to see me make a fool of myself?” Effie managed a bitter smile. 

Yasmine shook her head and said calmly. “Not interested.” She was merely passing by. 

Before she could leave completely, Yasmine was stopped by Effie. “Happy now! The whole world is laughing at me. You’ve become everyone’s number one, and I’m the joke with my scores voided.” Effie laughed self–deprecatingly as tears rolled down her cheeks. 

Yasmine halted, not even sparing a glance, and left a single remark. “That’s not true, before continuing on 

Effle wiped her tears and looked at Yasmine’s back unwillingly, shouting, Yasmine, I’m sorry Can you please stop pursuing this? My scores have already been revoked.” 

“Your scores being revoked was the organizers decision. I’m taking legal action because you’ve broken the law, Yasmine replied coldly. “I’m finished, Yasmine. Please, locking you up wasn’t my idea, it was someone else’s” Effie took a deep breath. 

Yasmine looked at her with skepticism, unsure if she should believe what Effie was saying. “Who?” 

“I don’t know” She paused, then continued, “It was someone I met at the bar.” 

Two weeks ago. With the thesis defense preparations underway, the judges held Yasmine and Elvis in high regard. Effie watched the interactions between Yasmine and Elvis, feeling tom and distressed. Unable to hold it in any longer, she went to the bar to vent her emotions, 

Effie met a woman who was exquisitely pretty and had a great figure. Most importantly, the woman seemed to understand exactly what was on Effie’s mind and what concerns she had. 

Effie was drunk, her mind was already unclear, and being in a place like a bar, she just started spilling everything that was on her mind. The woman was really understanding and even gave her some advice. The idea to lock Yasmine up was hers. 

“You said it was a stranger?” Yasmine frowned slightly, “Can you still remember what she looked like?” 

Effe nodded solemnly, only recalling a few scattered details. The woman wore a black dress, looked gentle and intellectual, and even had a drink with her. Effie remembered the exceptionally fair hand reaching over for the glass, shining under the light with a huge blue diamond ring. Oh, and she had a mole behind her ear 

“She had a blue diamond ring and a mole behind her right ear, but I can’t recall much else.” Effie desperately tried to remember. 

“Got it” Yasmine said softly. 

Seeing her unmoved, Effie could only picture the agony of being sent to court in her mind; she didn’t want to be completely ruined. “Yasmine, for the sake of the friendship we once had please let me go. I really regret acting so impulsively and making such a big mistake!” Tears streamed down her face as she looked up 

Yasinine couldn’t stand to see her like this. She vividly remembered the first time she met Effie at the hotel’s restaurant during breakfast. Effie came over with a bright smile to say hello, and that smile stayed with her ever since. Tm leaving now,” she said.

“Wait, are you going to stay and work at the Noke Psychology Institute?” Effie suddenly asked. 

Yasmine shook her head, “No, I won’t.” She just wanted to get back and finish her studies soon. She hadn’t received her diploma yet. 

In the lobby of Soucrity Airport, Yasmine had just emerged with her luggage when she saw several teachers and students from Aurelith University waiting for her. “You guys.” She felt so touched. 

Winston was there too. He took her suitcase and handed it to the student behind him, then patted her shoulder. “Very well done. We’ve already heard the news. Congratulations, Yasmine!”
