Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect novel Chapter 211

Chapter 211
Yvette entered the hall on Xavier's arm, wearing a pink tulle dress with a high-fashion design. She placed her hand on her stomach, casually touching it, while casting a challenging look at Yasmine.
"Ms. Sanchez, it's been a while." She smiled gracefully, as if she and Yasmine were friends and the past incidents never occurred.
Yasmine glanced indifferently and didn't respond, following Morgan to sit down. Their seat was right in the center. Although the Sanchez family couldn't compare to the Russell residence, it was still beyond what Xavier could contend with.
Just as Yasmine sat down, a commotion erupted at the door as reporters rushed towards the entrance. Looking over, she saw that Yonas and Irene had walked in. These two had been the subject of many rumors lately, so naturally, the reporters were eager to scoop
some news.
Yonas and Irene were also seated at the main table, directly across from Morgan and Yasmine. "Ms. Sanchez, it's been a while," Irene said with a smile.
Yasmine smiled gently. "Ms. White, you seem so excited today."
"I can't help it. It's Mr. Ellis's birthday today. With all this excitement, of course I'm happy," Irene replied. What thrilled her even more was her confidence in her collection. She had selected items that were imported from overseas and was hopeful that Hunter would appreciate them. She eagerly anticipated making a good impression on Hunter and securing the land deal.
Yasmine lowered her gaze and clenched her fists.
Xavier Sanchez and Yvette Gu sat at a nearby table, not able to join the main table, which was reserved for the Sanchez family members, Yonas, Irene, and Hunter. As Hunter walked over, he glanced first at Yonas and asked, "Why isn't your grandpa here?"
"Mr. Ellis, my grandpa hasn't been feeling well lately, so he sent me here," Yonas respectfully replied.
Hunter then glanced at Irene. "Is this the little Irene girl I've heard about? She's grown into quite a young lady."
"Hello, Mr. Ellis. Wishing you a long life and happiness as vast as the seas," she said with a playful smile.
Amid the exchange of pleasantries, the charity auction commenced. The first item up for bid was an oil painting, with a starting price of one million. Each items starting price was determined by the donor.
"This piece is an oil painting by the master Claude Monet, generously donated by Mr. Ivan Britt from the Celestial Cosmos Group. It beautifully captures the essence of nature and the moonlight," the auctioneer announced.
Since all funds from the auction are directed towards charity, bidders typically offer prices ten percent higher than the original value, to make a good impression on Hunter, an unspoken rule of sorts.
The final prices for the first three items were mostly under five million. Next up was a collection belonging to Xavier and Yvette.
Two hostesses brought a box onto the stage. Inside was an emerald cross pendant, with a pink emerald carved into the shape of a lotus, resting on verdant leaves. The elegance of this emerald cross pendant elevated the auction item's status, though antiques cannot be measured by their price alone.
"This piece, an emerald cross pendant, is offered by Mr. Flynn and originates from the Qing Dynasty, with a starting price of five million," the auctioneer stated.
Yasmine took a moment to further inspect the emerald. With its exceptional quality, it was certainly worth around 3 million.
As the bidding escalated, a dazzling smile spread across Yvette's face. She had personally selected this emerald for the auction.
However, Xavier's expression was growing more and more grim.
From the very start, Hunter hadn't raised his paddle even once.
Even as the bidding reached 2.3 million, he showed no interest.
Xavier clenched his fists tightly as the item was finally claimed for 3 million. Hunter wasn't interested, and the birthday celebration turned into a complete failure. Hunter stayed quiet throughout the auction, letting the remaining items go without any offer.
When Irene's collection piece appeared, the usher brought out a long box containing a painting. This wasn't just any picture-it was a portrait of God. As it flashed on the big screen, Hunter's fingers twitched slightly, tapping unconsciously on the table. Irene smiled, knowing that her painting was more than just a simple depiction of God-Hunter must have noticed it right away.
Meanwhile, a serious look was in Yasmine's eyes as he gazed at the painting. Irene was too bold; the portrait of God bore a likeness to Hunter. Clearly, no one else would dare bid for it. Everyone could see that it was meant for Hunter specifically, and no one wanted to cross the White family or offend the prominent Hunter.
Yasmine glanced at Yonas, whose surprise mirrored her own.
Such a daring idea was definitely Irene's style. However, she had misplayed her strategy. Christians hold God in the highest regard, a sacred presence not to be desecrated. She carelessly altered God's likeness, which was blasphemy. And using Hunter's face no less-it was as if she had thrust him into the abyss of desecrating God.
The auction began, yet there wasn't a single bid. Irene glanced anxiously towards Hunter. He was supposed to be the first to make a move, so why was there no action?
The entire hall fell silent, even the faint murmurs vanished. Amid the quiet, Yasmine leaned close to whisper a few words into Morgan's ear.
Just as the hostess was about to take the painting down after a few seconds, Morgan stood up and declared firmly, "3 million."
The hostess let out a sigh of relief; her smile returning. "Sold," she announced, even speeding up the countdown a bit, eager to rid herself of this hot potato.
Irene was stunned. Once Morgan successfully placed the bid, it suddenly became clear. Yet she had no way out now; it was explicitly against the rules to bid on one's own collection. Yes, she had made a huge mistake, focusing only on Hunter being a christian and forgetting the most crucial detail.
Morgan bought the painting, and Hunter looked at him with relief.
It not only resolved Hunter's awkwardness but also brought a smooth conclusion to the auction.
Irene tightened her grip on the cup, feeling like all her efforts had been for nothing, only to benefit someone else! She shot Yonas a sidelong glance, biting her lip. She forgot, how could this man possibly help her!
Yvette's face turned pale, completely unprepared for such a situation. In that moment, Morgan really proved to be clever.
After a few more items were auctioned, it was finally Yasmine's turn. "The next item is a cherished piece from Ms. Sanchez of the Sanchez family."
Morgan gave Yasmine a long look. He didn't intervene in this matter, yet he was curious about what she had brought, tagged with such a high price.
The usher brought over a black walnut box, and another usher opened it with the camera focusing on its contents. Inside was a rosary beads strand made of 108 Blood Amber pieces, naturally perfected, with a brilliant red glow.
The auctioneer almost stumbled over his words, astounded as he checked his notes several times before announcing, "Blood Amber,
starting bid at 33 million."
