“Mom, is this the plan you mentioned?” Xavier asked. 

Selena gave him a sideways glance, “Didn’t you hear? Helen agreed to this herself. She doesn’t want to make you or me sad. Besides, she has a psychiatric evaluation report, so she won’t be convicted. I’m doing this for your child!” 

Xavier looked at Helen in distress in the courtroom. She was his sister, the one who used to seek revenge for any grievance, and now she’s being forced to plead guilty. 

Helen continued, “I’ve always held a grudge against Yasmine. It’s not something new, and most people here know about it. We’ve had numerous run–ins even back at Aurelith University. Before this incident, there were already significant tensions between us. The villa incident was premeditated. I orchestrated everything just to ruin her, and I wanted to see her break down.” She spoke these words calmly, as if she wanted it to seem real. 

Yasmine knew her words were a mix of truth and lies. At least the first part was true, but the latter part seemed to be Yvette’s thoughts playing out. 

The lawyer listened with satisfaction to her answer, and Yvette faced the judge with a subtle smile. She believed that with what Helen had said, the judge would be convinced that none of it was her fault from the beginning. 

“Request to cross–examine the witness!” Yasmine’s lawyer stepped forward. Once the judge granted permission, the lawyer approached Helen and asked, “Helen, how do you explain Finnian’s testimony?” 

“Finman? Well, I really don’t understand why he would lie. I was clearly the one who did it.” Helen said. 

Finnian sat on one side, glancing behind him. 

The lawyer asked seriously, “So Helen, are you certain it was you who did this?” 

“Yes.” She nodded. 

The lawyer looked at the judge, “Your Honor, I submit new evidence.” 

Yvette slightly furrowed her brows, unsure of what Yasmine had up her sleeve. 

The lawyer played a video on the large screen. As soon as Selena saw the scene in the video, she fell apart. It was from the mental hospital. The first video showed her first attempt to persuade Helen to take the blame, and the second was before the trial. “Helen, just do it for Yvette! Take the blame! … After all, that woman wasn’t really hurt. The sentence won’t be harsh. Then we can have your brother put in some effort, maybe it’ll be even lighter… If you don’t confess, don’t call me mom anymore.“… 

As the video played, several reporters in the courtroom couldn’t wait to capture everything. Yvette’s face was pale, unable to believe these videos were actually being shown. 

Selena’s face turned ashen. How could she have forgotten? 

The lawyer said, “Your Honor, as you can see, in the two segments of surveillance played, Mrs. Flynn was persuading Helen to take the blame. After the first attempt at persuasion, Helen attempted suicide, which the hospital has verified. Instead of reconsidering after the suicide incident, Mrs. Flynn continued her various attempts to persuade Helen, as clearly shown in the second video where she even threatened suicide herself. All the surveillance videos have sound. This clearly indicates That Helen & intention to confess was not evident, and that she was being forced to take the blame rather than confessing voluntarily 

Helen swayed slightly but said nothing more. On the other hand Selena rose to her feet in excitement, Helen way responsible for this, I just convinced her to tum herself in

In the end, Yvette was sentenced to two years. Since she was pregnant, she would be under house arrest until the baby was born. Yvette almost couldn’t stand, but she knew this was the best outcome. After the baby is born, she could apply for a reduced sentence. 

Selena glared coldly at Yasmine, her plan flawless. Helen didn’t expect this outcome either and was taken back to the psychiatric hospital. 

Soucrity Hospital. Yonas had been lying in the ward for five whole days when Chuck brought some oatmeal. Yonas looked at him displeased, “Why is it you again?” 

Chuck nearly jumped, “Who else would it be if not me? What happened with you and Ms. Sanchez? Why isn’t she talking to you?” 

Yonas shook his head in confusion, not even understanding himself. The only explanation was that Yasmine might have overheard what he said to Irene that day. He tried calling Yasmine, but he was blocked. With his leg like this, he had no way to go to her.
