Yoselin eyed the table’s offerings with little enthusiasm. After trying a bit, she grimaced and remarked, “Yasmine, this soup is just terrible.”
“You. What do you mean by that?” Donna shot up instantly, glaring at Yoselin with anger. Even though Yoselin was the eldest of the Russell family, Donna couldn’t keep putting up with it.
Yoselin sneered, “I don’t mean anything by it. I’m just speaking the truth, or are you not allowing people to be honest?”
Donna, used to playing coy, grabbed Morgan’s arm and pouted, “Morgan, did you hear what she just said? So rude and

“Morgan, you heard it, right? I’m not trying to start anything, it’s her problem. Donna looked at Morgan innocently, tears still clinging to her eyes.
Yasmine and Yoselin exchanged a look full of disdain. Even Yoselin thought such a ploy was beneath her, reminiscent of the old Helen.
Morgan kept a neutral face, though there was a hint of disgust in his eyes. “Let’s eat. From now on, let Finola take care of this.”
Donna felt the urge to argue but stopped when she noticed Morgan’s look. She recalled Aunt Ivette’s words before coming: Morgan might appear cold, but he’s really gentle, especially toward Yasmine, whom he treats like a little sister.
Morgan, a perfect gentleman, had always been their grandmother’s pride. After catching a fleeting glance of him at the New Year’s family gathering, he stayed unforgettable. It was no secret in the Bowers family that Donna liked Morgan.
This visit was organized by Aunt Ivette, who clearly knew what she was thinking.
first time doing this. If it’s not good, of course Ms. Russell and Donna would dislike me. I’ll try to learn “Morgan, it’s my better,” Donna said, flashing a charming smile.
Morgan slammed his fork down. “I’m full,” he said.
Yasmine noticed that his bowl was still mostly full, and her cousin Morgan looked visibly impatient. She could tell he was on the verge of losing his temper.
“Morgan,” Donna said, standing up, ready to chase after him. Luckily, Yasmine stopped her.
“Don’t,” Yasmine advised. “Morgan probably went to the study to take care of some work. Let’s not bother him.” Donna looked Yasmine up and down, her tone indifferent, “What I want to do is none of your business, alright? Stop interfering.”
Yasmine shot back a cold stare, thinking about how some people don’t learn until they face the consequences.
In the end, Donna didn’t follow. She realized she couldn’t rush things; Morgan’s bad impression of her dated back to the incident with Caleb.
Yoselin and Yasmine ignored Donna and headed upstairs after dinner. Yoselin was doing much better now than when she was home; at least she wasn’t prone to sudden episodes anymore. Her dependence on Yasmine was unimaginably strong.
Before drifting off to sleep, Yoselin asked with a hint of uncertainty, “Yasmine, will you always be by my side?”

Chapter 299
Yasmine nodded reassuringly, “Of course, now get some sleep.
“Click.” Yasmine switched off the light, and the world was instantly plunged into darkness.
Yvette and Xavier finally got a chance to meet, set for 9 a.m. Yvette woke up early that day to get ready. She hadn’t been taking care of herself much, lounging around the house, and her belly had a noticeable curve. At five months, the pregnancy was getting heavy.
Yvette stood in front of the full–length mirror, anxiety tightening her chest as she stared at her altered figure. Would Xavier find her unattractive now? She chose clothes that hid her belly and applied makeup with extra care. But when Xavier walked in, his chiseled features made her eyes fill with tears.
“Xavier, it feels like forever since I last saw you. I’ve missed you so much.” Her gaze was locked on him, intense.
Xavier came in carrying two jumbo–sized thermal containers. Placing them on the table, he spoke softly, “Your mom and my mom made all this food. They’re both worried sick about you and the baby, fearing you’re not eating well here. My mom wishes she could send you all sorts of soups every day.”
He popped open the two thermos containers, releasing a wave of rich aroma. One was filled with braised pork made by Melissa, the other with black chicken soup from Selena. They’d both packed in loads of ingredients, determined to ensure Yvette got all the nutrition she needed.
Yvette ignored the two thermos containers. With emotion in her eyes, she held Xavier’s hand tightly, her voice catching as she asked, “Xavier, have you missed me?”
Xavier found himself speechless under her loving gaze, so he skirted around it, asking instead, “How’ve you been?” He smoothly slipped his hand away from hers, keeping his tone light.
