"I'm sorry, miss, this membership card is expired. It can no longer be used."
"What? It's expired?" Sharon's face was distorted. She didn't know that Le Jardin's membership cards had an expiration date.
Johnny heard what the lady at the front desk said, and the scorn on his face grew.
"I already told you not to pretend that you're all that. You're using an expired membership card and you're trying to get in with it? You're ridiculous. Dream on!
"I reckon that the reason she could get her hands on that expired membership card was because she curried favor with an influential person, and now, that person no longer wants anything to do with her, so she's at her wit's end."
Sharon felt bad. "I didn't think it would turn out like this, Yolanda."
It was fine if she was the only one who was ridiculed since she was already used to it. However, she felt really bad because Yolanda got ridiculed alongside her because of her.
"I'm sorry. Let's just go somewhere else."
Just as Sharon was about to leave, Yolanda pulled her back. "We don't have to go to another place. We can still enter."
The front desk lady at Le Jardin was trained to have a polite smile on her face at all times, but after hearing what Yolanda had said, disdain couldn't help but peek through her composed mask.
Yolanda was wearing something even more ordinary than Sharon. All she had on were unimpressive clothes from the flea market.
The sun would be more likely to start rising in the west than for people like her to have Le Jardin's membership cards.
Yolanda was aware of the disdain the front desk lady exuded, but she didn't say anything. She took out the Fusion Group VIP card Zach had given her and passed it to the lady right away.
This VIP card meant that the cardholder was Zach's VIP. The card also represented Zach himself.
Le Jardin was a restaurant under Fusion Group, so when she showed the Fusion Group VIP card, it was more effective than any membership card.
The front desk lady who was previously lackadaisical immediately straightened her back and greeted Yolanda with respect.
She didn't even check to see if the VIP card was legitimate because she believed that no one would dare forge a Fusion Group VIP card in Riverdale.
"Please come with me, Ms. Henderson."
The front desk lady used her intercom and got three other servers to join her. They flashed their most genuine smiles at Yolanda and greeted, "Welcome to Le Jardin, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Jones."
