"Fainted?" Maria tried to recall what had happened.
"I remember going out for a walk, then suddenly my stomach hurt. I was just about to head home to use the bathroom… I don't remember anything after that." The next thing she knew, she was lying on the bed at Willow Creek Clinic.
"You had food poisoning, but it's not severe, and we caught it early. I'll prescribe some medicine. You'll be fine after a couple of days of rest," Yolanda explained.
"Food poisoning?" Maria was perplexed.
"Honey, you need to stop eating expired foods!" Darius urged.
"I didn't though…" Maria responded, still confused.
"You're always reminding me not to eat expired things, and today when I cleaned the house, I threw away all the expired snacks! Besides, we had lunch together. I haven't eaten anything else since. If it was food poisoning, how could I be the only one affected?"
Darius paused. After realizing the inconsistency, he turned to Yolanda and asked, "That's right, doc. We ate the same food. How could she get food poisoning if she didn't secretly eat any expired snacks?"
"If the food was fine, it could be worth checking the water or drinks at home," Yolanda suggested thoughtfully. "Also, at your age, please try to avoid drinking strong tea." She then reminded them, "If you're concerned, come back to Willow Creek Clinic for regular check-ups. We offer free health exams."
Previously, Baxter had offered discounts and free health check-ups for long-time residents living near the clinic. After Yolanda took over, she continued this tradition.
