Dunstan was assured since Yolanda was around, so he went to the back and boiled some water.
It was another ten minutes when Maria finally woke up.
"Where am I?" She looked blankly at her surroundings only to realize that she was at a clinic.
"You passed out from food poisoning again," Darius replied worriedly.
"I don't know what you ate, but I told you to stop eating leftovers."
"I didn't!" Maria felt like she was wronged.
"The portion of the food we've been making at home recently is just enough for us. There are no leftovers.
She added, "Also, I don't like snacks. I usually just eat fruits. Would I get food poisoning from eating fruits?"
"Maybe there could be remnants of pesticides on the fruits that weren't washed clean?" Dunstan walked in with a mug of warm water and asked casually after hearing what Maria had said.
"That's impossible! I'm very particular about cleanliness. I would soak my fruits in starchy water for 30 minutes and rinse them a few times before eating them."
Maria shook her head and sipped on the water, feeling a little confused.
"That's impossible. How did I get food poisoning?"
The remnants of pesticides on the fruits would cause food poisoning, but Yolanda had assessed Maria's symptoms. It didn't look like the kind of food poisoning one would get from ingesting pesticide remnants.
Instead, it seemed more like she had eaten something with unknown ingredients. She also vaguely smelt a faint scent of medicine on Maria.
"What medicine have you been eating recently, Mrs. Singer?"
"I'm not taking anything else besides the ones you've prescribed, " Maria replied.
"All in all, please try to be more mindful of your diet these few days."
