Natalie’s pupils contracted sharply. “What do you mean by that? Are you the one who took the child? Where are you?” 

I’m on a ship in the middle of the ocean,” the kidnapper said coldly. “Transfer the money to the designated account, and I’ll return your child immediately. If I don’t receive the money before dawn, your son is as good as dead.” 

Natalie stared out the window, her gaze icy. So, it was all about money 

Jasmine, spoiled beyond reason by Jason, had no sense of limits. Now that she had lost Jason’s protection and was broke, she was indeed capable of doing something like this. 

Are you dreaming in the middle of the night? The banks aren’t even open at this hour. How do you expect me to send you 3 million dollars right now?” 

“Fine. Tomorrow morning, then,” the kidnapper replied. “But if I don’t have the money by then, I’ll toss your child into the ocean to feed the fish.” 

Natalie abruptly stood up and walked to the window, peering outside. 

There was nothing to see but the raging storm. Wind and snow swirled furiously, the extreme weather making everything seem even more menacing. 

“Are you sure the child is unharmed?” Natalie asked, pretending to sound anxious. 

“Don’t worry. Until I get the money, I’ll take good care of the kid. Quit wasting time and start gathering the cash,” the kidnapper barked before hanging up. 

Natalie’s eyes were filled with murderous intent. 

Just then, she recalled that there might be surveillance footage near Room 408. 

She quickly opened a specialized surveillance software on her phone and located the hospital’s system portal. The slow internet took three minutes, but she eventually gained access to the system. 

Soon, she found a video showing Jasmine crouched by the hospital room door, filming something. 

However, a glaring red X indicated that the original video had been tampered with. Clearly, they had come prepared. 

Natalie recorded the video and sent it directly to the local police station. 

Her phone, custom–built with advanced features, proved invaluable in critical situations like this. 

Once the video was sent, she swiftly cleared all traces of her activity. 

‘As long as Jasmine is found, the child will be too. Tsk, Jasmine really messed up this time. She actually dared to kidnap the child of Samuel from the police station. Perfect, she’s headed straight for prison, Natalie thought. 

Still, she needed to visit the police and explain the whole situation. 

What puzzled her was Jennifer’s remarkable patience. She hadn’t abandoned Jasmine after all this time. 

‘Could Jasmine still have some value Jennifer wants to exploit?‘ Natalie mused briefly. 

Her thoughts shifted when she noticed her little nephew. His tiny, rosy face, raised little hands, and restless lips showed he wasn’t sleeping deeply. He was clearly hungry.

Natalie chuckled softly and got up to wash a bottle, preparing to mix some formula for the batry. She stile, the policemen still conducting inquiries, so she decided to head down later, right on time. 

On the other side, the police station received the video Natalie had sent. 

After identifying Jasmine as the suspect, the officers brought the footage to the hospital to consult Samuel, 

To avoid alerting the suspect, Samuel had the nurses brought in one by one to identify Jasmine. 

Jasmine had been on the island for several days now. She frequently visited the hospital to deliver lunch to Madison, and one of the nurses who knew Madison instantly recognized her. 

Winnie nervously glanced at Samuel, whose imposing presence was palpable. “Samuel, she’s Madison’s niece. She’s been coming by to bring Madison lunch. Actually, Dr. Madison is on duty tonight for Mrs. Lester? 

A sinking feeling settled in Winnie’s chest. “Samuel, you’ve dealt with similar cases before. Last year, two children were kidnapped from our hospital. The ransom was paid, and the children were eventually returned” 

Samuel’s eyes burned with anger as he fixed his sharp, penetrating gaze on Winnie. “But I haven’t received any ransom calls so far this time.”

Winnie spoke up, “Samuel…” 

“Where does this woman live?” Samuel cut her off, his eyes still focused on the storm outside. A trace of concern flickered in his gaze. 

In such heavy snow, the child could easily fall ill from the cold. 

The video that had been sent was untraceable, but it was likely that someone had helped him behind the scenes, knowing it was this woman who had taken his son. 

At the time, Samuel had been waiting outside the delivery room for his wife to be moved to a regular ward. 

He had watched as both his wife and child fell asleep, then stepped out to take a call. When he returned, his child was gone. Coincidentally, all the nearby surveillance cameras had malfunctioned. 

The heavy snowstorm had damaged many of the monitoring systems. 

But the sudden appearance of this video made it clear to him that before his child was taken, the cameras had been working fine. It was only after the abduction that the cameras were destroyed.

Winnie replied, “She lives in the small building across the street, Room 302.”
