Chapter 350
Chapter 350
Jennifer had never seen Easton like this before. He seemed strict, quiet, and indifferent–so different from the friendly Octavian, with whom she felt comfortable.
Octavian’s charm cased her stress, and she found comfort in being with him, even if it left her feeling sore afterward.
With a heavy heart, Jennifer felt overwhelmed and wished for someone to help lighten her sadness. But with Easton, there was just a tense silence, making her feel drained.
Curious, she asked, “Easton, if you know everything, why do you pretend for Natalie?”
She genuinely found Easton confusing; he was becoming harder to understand.
In a detached tone, Easton replied, “You saved my life. I consider you like a sister. Your problems matter to me, and if you ask for my help, I’ll give it, but don’t waste it.”
Self–absorbed, Jennifer thought Easton was still in love with her, just looking for a reason to help.
Her thoughts made her smile brightly. “Easton, when I’m with Octavian, we don’t do anything; we just talk about the plot. When did you start believing those rumors?”
Easton felt like a stranger now; he had changed a lot.
He seemed to trust Natalie more and was letting go of his faith in her.
Jennifer pressed, “Easton, I really want to eat at this restaurant. Aren’t you worried about Natalie and Murray being alone together?”
Deep down, she wanted to take Natalie’s table, determined to ruin any comfort for her rival.
Easton said nothing as he led Jennifer inside.
Natalie and Murray had already ordered, and without Jennifer and Easton’s disturbance, Natalie felt her spirits lift again.
Just as she began talking to Murray about maternity products from abroad, Easton and Jennifer entered. Easton sat beside her, and Jennifer took the seat next to Murray.
Both Natalie and Murray were surprised at the boldness of the two newcomers.
Frowning at Easton, Natalie asked, “What are you two doing here?”
With a casual tone, Easton replied, “No tables free; we’ll share.”
Natalie’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Easton, you reserved the entire restaurant just so Jennifer could eat in peace. What’s changed today? Are you letting the one you care about suffer by sharing a table with us?”
Jennifer felt humiliated; Easton’s past affection had made her feel special, but now it was clear he was focused on someone else.
Easton said, “Natalie, if you want to eat in peace, I can reserve the entire place just for you.”
His voice was gentle, but his eyes were dark and unreadable.
Natalie felt a bit choked by his words.
With jealousy rising, Jennifer sensed that Easton was now showering Natalie with the kindness he once gave her.
Chapter 350
Noticing Jennifer’s angry glare, Natalie felt pleased.
Tilting her head toward Easton, she joked, “This is the best treatment I’ve ever received! Please, go ahead and clear everyone out!”
As long as it upset Jennifer, Natalie wanted to keep it going, especially since it wasn’t her money.
Seething with anger, Jennifer trembled, her fists clenched tightly, her sharp nails digging painfully into her skin–a useless attempt to hide her growing rage.
Jennifer felt Natalie didn’t deserve such attention.
a low voice, she said, “Easton, there are too many people; clearing them out could hurt our reputation.”
With the movie not yet out, and her being a newcomer, Jennifer couldn’t risk any blemish on her name. Easton knew this was serious.
Raising an eyebrow at her, Easton declared, “As long as my wife is happy.”
Jennifer felt a tightness in her throat from anger. “What?” Her voice got sharp, her previous softness gone.
Murray, brow furrowed, spoke up against Easton. “Natalie, it’s annoying to spend his money. Let me handle this; I know the owner and can clear the area for you.”
Murray’s mature outfit made him look serious and authoritative.
Natalie felt tired, thinking, ‘Murray, you’ve got it wrong; I just want to upset Jennifer! Please don’t make things harder.
Once adored by Easton, Jennifer now felt a painful gap in treatment, crushing her self–esteem.
With a bright smile, Natalie said, “Murray, with my husband here, you don’t need to spend anything; just invite me to dinner another time.”
Easton looked deeply into her shining smile. She was beautiful; the word “husband” from her felt like a sweet melody to him.
Feeling drawn in, he nodded, breaking Jennifer’s heart even more.
