Chapter 144 A Trap
The ward that Adams was staying in had always been guarded by bodyguards. Few people could enter and exit freely. Apart from Karley, only Cindy Waller, the nurse who was responsible for taking care of Adams, was allowed to enter and exit the ward that day.
Karley naturally couldn’t take care of Adams herself, so Anaya asked the private detective to focus all his attention on Cindy. Sure enough, he soon found the problem.
Cindy had a husband who did not work. He had been unemployed before, but yesterday he suddenly found a well–paid
job.
After verification, HR had indeed accepted bribes, which was why Cindy’s husband went to work.
Aracely went to the detective’s office with Anaya. When she received the news, she almost smashed her cup.
“Fuck, Karley is too ruthless! Adams is her biological grandfather! How can she do this to him!”
Anaya patted her hand, indicating for her to calm down, and then looked at the detective again.
“Do you have concrete evidence?”
“We only have the record of Karley’s payment for that HR. I’m afraid it will be difficult to testify against Karley with this evidence.”
Anaya tapped her finger on the brown wooden table and said, “I’ll take it from here. Thank you for your hard work.”
She paid and took Aracely away.
After leaving the detective’s office, Aracely asked, “Since the people here can’t get the exact evidence, I’m afraid this matter is not easy to handle… What are your plans?”
Anaya stopped and stood sideways in the twilight in a gloomy expression. “I need a few people.”
Aracely was suspicious. “Do you want to make them confess under torture? This won’t have any legal effect…”
The corners of Anaya’s lips curled up with coldness. “I will let them admit it themselves.”
Cindy took care of Adams in the hospital until nine o’clock at night and returned home after changing shifts. When she got near home, she saw a few men with sticks wandering downstairs of her house in the distance.
Cindy was shocked and quickly hid in the small alley at the side.
The few men downstairs leaned against the wall and chatted. One of them smashed the iron bar in his hand against the wall Cindy’s heart trembled when she heard the sound.
The man said in a rough voice, “Why isn’t Cindy back yet? Ms. Karley said that if this woman leaves here alive tomorrow, we’ll be screwed!”
“Let’s wait a bit longer. I remember that she usually gets off work at this time. It should be soon.”
Their voices were particularly loud, echoing through the empty road.
When Cindy heard their conversation, her face instantly turned pale.
Karley wants to burn the bridges! thought Cindy.
Cindy wanted to escape. In a moment of desperation, she accidentally bumped into the trash can behind her, making a

loud noise.
The few men who were waiting downstairs heard the noise and ran over.
“It’s Cindy! Catch her!”
Cindy was frightened and ran around in the alley.
The few men behind her chased her so tightly that Cindy couldn’t get rid of them no matter what.
She ran up the main road and saw a car parked by the side of the road. She ran over to open the door and got in without hesitation but found that the door was locked.
Through the car window, she could see someone inside, but she could not see who it was.
Hearing the footsteps coming closer and closer behind her, Cindy anxiously knocked on the car window. She begged in
a broken voice.
“Please… Please open the car door. Someone wants to kill me…”
The next second, the car door opened..
