Chapter 443 Will I Survive if Jumping Down?
Realizing the crazy idea in his mind, Jaylon was shocked and quickly denied his guess.
Reina had never been a weak person. When her father passed away, she never thought about giving up.
Reina wouldn't decide to end her life just because Jaylon wanted her to stay by his side.
But he felt uneasy as if something big was about to happen.
In order to stay assured, he sent a few more people to secretly keep an eye on Reina.
In the next few days, Reina had been idle, either sitting in a daze on the long chair in the park or doing volunteer work for the kids in the kindergarten.
One day, Lacey was taught a lesson by that woman and ran back to Reina's place to ask her for money.
This time, Reina didn't give her money like before but asked Jaylon's people to kick Lacey out of the apartment. She directly cut off the mother-daughter relationship with Lacey.
The days passed by peacefully. Occasionally, when Jaylon went to see Reina, she did not go against him. She was so obedient that she often sat there without saying a word like a doll.
Over the past few days, she had never acted out of expectation, nor did she tend to commit suicide. Jaylon was slightly relieved. He only thought that her silence these days was her way of resistance.
The day before his engagement, Jaylon bought flight tickets to Canada for a first-class cabin.
Reina was arranged to sit on a seat next to him.
After arriving in Canada, he settled Reina in the hotel and went to the Hornsby's home alone to discuss tomorrow's ceremony process.
When Jaylon arrived, he found that Carlee and Leonard were also there.
After he fell out with Leonard that day, the couple had not contacted him.
He thought that they had completely ignored him, but they still came over.
The discussion between the two families was very smooth. Jaylon mentioned the merging of the two companies. Edson didn't show any signs of opposition.
The Hornsby family had Nadia as the only youngster in the direct line of descent. When she married, the entire Hornsby family naturally followed up.
However, after marriage, the Hornsby family's industry was still under Nadia's name. Jaylon was in charge of its management and had the right to use all resources.
After settling down the process of the engagement, the three people of the Malpas family left together.
Walking out of the villa, Jaylon asked Carlee, "Mom, will you and dad attend my engagement ceremony tomorrow?"
Their attitude change was too sharp, so he always felt that something was wrong.
Especially Leonard, who even wanted to beat his son to death last time, was very quiet today.
Carlee sighed and said, "Do you think I am willing to participate? I have to maintain the dignity of the Malpas family!
"If your father and I weren't present when you and Nadia were engaged, we would be a joke when word got out!"
"As for your affair with Reina, we can wait until the engagement ceremony is over."
They separated at the entrance of the villa.
When Jaylon returned to the hotel, Reina was on the balcony of the suite overlooking the night scene.
This hotel was the fourth-highest building in Ottawa. Looking down from the balcony on the top floor, she could see more than half of Ottawa's
scenery.
He walked onto the terrace. Before he got close, Reina asked, "Jaylon, do
you think that I will die in a nasty way if I jump down from here?"
Jaylon's heart tightened, but the expression did not change at all.
He said confidently, "You won't jump."
Reina looked back at him, revealing a weird smile. "Yes, I don't dare to
jump."
"If I dared, I would have jumped when you spread the news in the company
that I was your mistress."
She had gone astray, so she cared most about her reputation.
Sometimes when she walked on the streets, she had the illusion that she
had been stripped naked publicly if others looked at her.
Jaylon forced her to quit her job by exposing her unbearable past.
Only she knew how devastated she was on that day.
However, no matter how upset she was, she still started sending resumes
on the same day, wanting to find the next job as soon as possible.
She wanted to raise herself and also financially support Lacey.
The most important thing was that she did not want to be idle.
When she was free, she would think of people's sharp voices and looks of
disgust when they talked about her.
