Hayden was extremely enthusiastic as he handed the grapes to Morgan.
"Thank you, Hayden." Morgan smiled faintly, then took a bite of the grapes.
But his expression changed immediately. "Ugh! This tastes horrible! What is this? Why does it have such a weird taste?"
He hurried to add, looking a bit aggrieved, "Hayden, I'm not blaming you. I'm just talking about the grapes."
"What? Hayden, are you trying to mess with him again?" Lily glared at him. "Morgan is already in this state, and you're still bullying him? Can't you even wash grapes properly? You're really useless!"
The room fell into a tense silence.
Even Charlotte seemed nervous. "What weird taste? What's going on?" she asked urgently.
"Um… maybe it's because I hit my head earlier that my sense of taste is a bit off." Morgan gave a bitter smile, pretending to cover for Hayden.
"Let me take a look. I'll check if there's something wrong with the water!" Hayden quickly explained, not wanting to waste time, and hurriedly left.
His attentive attitude left Morgan almost speechless.
Was Hayden really treating him this well? This couldn't be right! Was he really becoming a weakling?
He didn't really taste anything strange and simply continued eating the grapes. They were quite sweet, actually—he remembered Julia buying them for him before. She knew he loved sweet foods.
"Morgan, stop eating it! Didn't you just say something was wrong with it?" Lily quickly urged, clearly worried.
"It's fine; the taste isn't too strong, and they're really sweet." Morgan smiled brightly, unconcerned. After all, he had made the whole thing up.
It wasn't until he finished eating that Hayden returned. He walked in, looking a bit surprised as he stared at Morgan.
"What are you back for? If you don't have anything else to say, just leave! You're not welcome here!" Lily glared at Hayden, trying to drive him away.
