During this time, Hayden was at home, following online tutorials to cook a variety of dishes.
Although he was a beginner, the dishes looked pretty decent. They were vibrant, aromatic, and tempting. Now, all that remained was for his family to taste them.
When he finished plating the last dish, he glanced at the clock.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Hayden smiled faintly. The people he was waiting for were back right on time.
Hurrying to the door, he opened it to see James standing by the door.
"Wow, that smells amazing! Don't tell me you already ordered takeout?" James teased with a grin.
"That's very thoughtful of you, Hayden! You ordered takeout so early," Serena praised and smiled warmly.
"Actually, this is all homemade," Hayden let them in and immediately explained, gesturing toward the dining table full of dishes.
When Serena and James saw the spread, they both froze.
It was quite the effort for a first-timer. There were four complete dishes, all neatly presented.
"Not bad at all! We'll wash up quickly so we can dig in." James looked forward to trying the food.
"No need to rush. Jenny should be back soon, so we should all wait a little longer." Hayden chuckled, and then he checked the time again. She'd likely arrive in about ten minutes.
"See? You never think about our daughter!" Serena rolled her eyes at James and scolded him.
"Oh, sorry! My bad!" James scratched his head sheepishly.
Ten minutes later, Jenny came home and immediately noticed the food on the table.
