Hayden froze in place, and his expression contorted strangely. It was then that he realized something. Why hadn't he thought of that earlier?
Getting admitted into Brighton University would change his life, but there are other various ways for him to get rich overnight.
Since Hayden still had his memories from his previous life, he could seize multiple opportunities in the future to get rich. This included real estate, stocks, and the internet, which were all key areas of future development.
But now, the best way for him to strike it rich and accumulate wealth over time was to buy a lottery ticket.
"What are you thinking about? Are you seriously thinking of buying a lottery ticket? Hey, I said it on a whim, so don't take it too seriously. Besides, the chances of winning are nearly impossible!" Roy anxiously tried to convince him after he saw Hayden being in a daze.
He was afraid that Hayden would really buy a lottery ticket and end up ruining his life over it.
Roy had a neighbor who consistently bought lottery tickets for more than ten years and lost everything to it in the end. Yet, his neighbor still spent his days hanging around the lottery ticket booth.
"The chances might be slim, but you can't rule out a visionary." Hayden let out a wicked smile. He already had an idea blossoming in his mind.
At the Sterling residence, Anna sat on the balcony in a daze as she swirled about the glass of red wine in her hand.
"Where'd you go off to yesterday? Why did you return so late?" Julia asked lightly as she walked over.
"I went to find Hayden," Anna explained openly.
"As expected. You're still extremely skeptical. So, did he end up pissing you off?" Julia asked playfully.
But Anna didn't say anything. Instead, she raised her head and looked at Julia in all seriousness. There was a complicated expression in her eyes. Anna wanted to tell Julia of the events that had happened yesterday, but she didn't know where to start.
With Anna's sharp intellect, she could already predict the outcome. It would cause a major turmoil within the Sterling family.
"What are you looking at? Tell me!" Julia urged her. "You even burned something yesterday. Seriously, you're getting weirder by the day."
Julia was referring to the piece of paper Hayden had given Anna, who burned it to erase traces of its evidence.
"Julia, I'm thinking… Haven't we been treating Morgan extremely well all these years?" Anna started.
"Of course we have. Isn't that a given since he's our brother?" Julia questioned back. However, she felt that Anna's question came off a little strange.
Did Anna find Hayden for something related to Morgan?
"We've been treating Morgan extremely well for the past ten years, but have we always treated Hayden like that from the start ever since he came back three years ago?" Anna observed Julia seriously.
This particular question made Julia freeze in her stance, and she began to search her memories. It seemed that they had all treated Hayden pretty well when he had first returned to the Sterling residence, and Charlotte had even given him 50 thousand dollars as his pocket money.
However, Francis began to rebuke and insult Hayden for having learnt too many bad habits outside. He was afraid that Hayden would grow up to become a degenerate. This happened all because Morgan had said that Hayden had stolen a game console from his room.
In the end, Charlotte had bought the latest model of the game console for Morgan, and the Sterling family began to treat Hayden differently. After all, no one wished to live with a morally-corrupt degenerate. It was considered shameful, and even more so, dangerous.
"That was Hayden's fault. None of us would've treated him like this if he had just changed his bad habits early on! He probably still doesn't know what he did wrong up until this day, and it's honestly pretty ridiculous.
"It serves him right for not having a family. We live in different worlds, and someone like him will never be able to match up to us!" Julia responded after a moment's thought without an ounce of remorse.
"But, what if Hayden was wrongfully accused? I mean… What if Morgan had only accused Hayden of stealing because he wanted to get a new game console?" Anna carefully worded the possibilities that might have taken place, because even she herself couldn't quite believe it.
Francis had found a mistress outside and had brought his illegitimate son into the Sterling family. All these years, they had been tricked into living a lie. It was far too shocking of a revelation.
At that moment, Julia felt as if her foundations were collapsing.
"How could this be? Do you know what sort of nonsense you're spewing right now? Do you know what sort of trouble it could bring if news of this got out?" Julia suppressed her voice as she rebuked Anna angrily.
She was overwhelmed with a surge of emotions, and as the eldest sister of the Sterling family, she would never tolerate this sort of thing.
"I understand how you feel because I feel the same. But there are just too many details that I can't overlook and get suspicious of.
"I feel so sorry for Hayden, but what matters most now is Mom. She wouldn't be able to handle it if she learned of this." Anna lowered her head, trembling a little. This was also one of the reasons Anna was in a dilemma.
"Where's your evidence? If you learned of it from Hayden, it just means that he's trying to create a rift within our family!" Julia gazed at Anna sharply as she spoke.
Without any sort of evidence, all that Anna had said could only be considered as empty words.
"Do you really think there wouldn't be any evidence if he could spin such a tale? But…" Anna lifted her head and stared straight at Julia seriously before she continued, "Do you really dare to look for the evidence, Julia?"
At that, Julia was struck stunned, as if she had been hit by lightning. Would she really dare to look for the evidence?
Julia trembled all over as she felt the fear seeping into her every pore. Would she really dare look for the evidence?
If they really looked into it, it would officially be the start to a standoff between the legal wife and the mistress. Would Julia really dare to look for the evidence?
Wasn't whatever that had happened to Hayden a perfect example of the outcome?
