"Or perhaps Lily wouldn't need to die if you told the truth."
Hayden's statement immediately got everyone's attention, their eyes wide open as they stared at him in confusion.
What was going on? Told the truth? What truth?
Morgan was the only one with a constipated look, and he glared right at Hayden. He clenched his fists, knowing full well that it was inevitable. He might as well let the cat out of the bag.
"It's my fault. I'm actually not sick. I just… accidentally fell down. I'm doing fine. Let Lily get the treatment. I'm not lying about this," Morgan explained cautiously, his face turning beet red.
He was worried that this matter would incur the wrath of everyone there.
"I told you not to say anything. Why won't you listen?" Francis roared as he glared at Morgan.
He was not the only one. Everyone else thought the same. To them, Morgan was clearly lying to let Lily get the opportunity for treatment.
Everyone was dispirited, feeling touched by Morgan's act of self-sacrifice.
Their response left Morgan discombobulated.
Was it not enough that he had told them the truth? What should he do now?
"Are you sure you merely tripped and fell? Do you really want to hide the truth?" Hayden scoffed.
"You—" Morgan gritted his teeth and stopped himself from saying more.
This exchange left everyone in the room rather confused.
"What happened? What are you talking about?" Julia shot an icy glare at Hayden.
