Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 182

At that, Francis' face became increasingly stiff.

He had no idea what excuses he should come up with anymore.

In the eyes of others, the relationship between the Sterling family and Hayden was purely an employment relationship.

Hayden was just a housekeeper, so whatever he did should have nothing to do with the Sterling family.

"Let's talk about it, Mr. Grant. Why didn't you go directly to Hayden's parents?" David pressed further.

"I-It seemed like his parents weren't home at that time," Victor stammered. He had almost instinctively come up with that overly straightforward excuse.

The entire crowd froze when they heard his words, and they stared blankly at Victor.

Was that the reason?

That was so ridiculous!

"What a good excuse! His parents weren't home! Then, what about the next day? Or the day after? Why didn't you think of going to look for them again?

"Mr. Grant, you've been in Stonybrook for almost a month. Didn't you ever try meeting his parents again?" David asked as he stared at Victor intently.

"I… " Victor was in a complicated mood, and he glanced around in panic.

"Are you out of words, Mr. Grant?" David asked, pressing forward relentlessly.

"Mr. Schnapp, since the Sterling family already knew about Hayden's poor character, I didn't think it was necessary to keep looking for his parents anymore," Victor explained hastily.

"If the Sterling family already knew about Hayden's poor character, then why did they still let their son befriend him? And why would he be allowed to attend this party when it's such an important occasion? Doesn't your explanation seem untenable? Can you really justify it?" David's cold, mocking smile deepened, and his gaze brimmed with contempt.
