"You!" Francis was furious. He immediately boiled over with rage and glared intently at Hayden. As he held his hatred in check, he wanted nothing more than to slap Hayden right there and then.
The rest of the Sterlings also shook their heads helplessly. Did Hayden not realize they only did that to help him leave? Could he not see the bigger picture?
"Stop fooling around and come along. Otherwise, you won't be leaving!" Julia reminded with a frown.
"That's right. Stop being stubborn. Let's go!" Anna chimed in, worried about Hayden's safety.
However, Hayden gave them an icy smile, his face filled with contempt.
"Leave? Why should I leave? Are you guys taking me along because of this gem? After leaving with you, the gem will be taken by you guys anyway. What's the point? What ties do I have with you guys, and who do you even think you are?"
Hayden's tone was icy, and his attitude was just plain rude. His words cut into them like a sharp knife.
The Sterling family members were surprised, never expecting him to denounce them publicly like that. Was he tired of living?
"Are you nuts? I gave you a chance, yet you chose to stay!" Francis barked.
"Yup. I'm choosing to stay." Hayden looked away casually, not even bothering to acknowledge Francis.
Benjamin couldn't help but break into a fit of laughter, the smug look in his eyes growing stronger. "Interesting. This is really interesting!"
After that, he walked up to Francis and stared at him with amusement.
"Mr. Sterling, your staff seems to have a rather unique relationship with your family! I almost believed it when your entire family came looking for him. Turns out you're just here for the gem!" Benjamin mocked, kicking them while they were down.
