Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 26

Charlotte was a frail and even-tempered woman. She had always resigned herself to adversity. There was no way she could withstand such a shock.

The son she had raised was, in truth, the child of a mistress. Meanwhile, she had never shown love for her biological son.

Just the thought of that was giving Julia a headache.

"Julia, if he doesn't want money, how could we keep him quiet?" Anna asked curiously. "He's from a humble background. He couldn't possibly resist the temptation of money."

"Wait for a while. Give me some time." Julia was in low spirits and noticeably listless.

"Wait? The SAT is just a month away. And Morgan's birthday party will be held after that.

"Dad is supposed to announce his heir at the board meeting a month later. If this matter is brought to light, that announcement will surely be affected," Anna said anxiously. She stared at Julia, wanting her to decide what to do.

"I know." Julia simply nodded. She couldn't come up with a plan.

"Julia, hurry up and make a decision. If the mistress gets ahead while we're waiting, Mom and us will be driven out. Or we might lose our leverage just to live with Morgan and the mistress!" Anna urged, feeling inexplicably agitated.

Serious consequences that she wished would not happen had crossed her mind. The only person who could do something now was Julia.

"I know…" Julia furrowed her brow, still coming up empty. She was anxious as well.

"Should we confront that woman?" Anna asked abruptly.

Julia and Anna were silent. Meanwhile, Lily was chatting with Morgan cheerfully, unaware of anything.

"Morgan, have you decided which university you will apply to?" Lily asked.

"There's still a month until the SAT. But, given my grades, I can get into any of the top universities easily," Morgan said with a slight smile, utterly confident.

He attended an elite high school. The school's faculty was of unbelievable caliber. Plus, he was talented and had always been at the top of his class.

His words heightened Francis' pride. "Hmph. Is there anyone in the Sterling family who isn't exceptional?" Francis said with a healthy glow on his face, holding a glass of wine.

"Dad, I'll do my best in the test and place in the top ten statewide. Others will come and congratulate you then." Morgan pursed his lips, appearing earnest and well-behaved.
