It turned out that the emerald had actually been stolen by Lily.
At that moment, while everyone's attention was elsewhere, Hayden quietly turned on the TV in the banquet hall. The screen lit up with a live broadcast from Prima Auction House.
"Congratulations to this gentleman for successfully purchasing this exceptional emerald for five million dollars!" the auctioneer announced enthusiastically.
The sound of the broadcast instantly caught everyone's attention. Every pair of eyes turned toward the TV, and then to the emerald on display in the hall.
When they saw the emerald being auctioned, their expressions collectively shifted.
"Wait… Why does that emerald look just like this one here?" someone muttered in disbelief.
"Yeah, what's going on? Another emerald? And it's already been sold? Which one's the real deal?"
"Well, if the auction house authenticated it, that one must be legit. Which means that this one…"
The realization dawned on everyone almost simultaneously. The emerald being auctioned off was authentic, leaving the one in the hall looking increasingly dubious.
"What's going on? How is there another emerald at the auction house?" Francis stammered, his lips trembling with uncertainty.
"No way!" Lily and Morgan were equally stunned, their faces pale with shock. None of them had expected this sudden twist of another emerald showing up out of nowhere.
"Mr. Sterling, where exactly did this emerald come from?" someone in the crowd asked, breaking the tense silence.
"Yeah, the color and texture look different compared to the one from the auction house!" another chimed in.
"It seems like the auctioned emerald is the real one…"
The crowd didn't finish their sentence, but the implication was clear. Everyone had already concluded that the emerald in the hall was a fake.
Francis felt like his entire body was on fire, his face flushed as if he were sitting on a hot grill.
