"Hayden, you'd better watch yourself! Don't be so hot-headed next time. Even though Morgan's company is in competition with yours, I hope you'll play fair and avoid any underhanded tactics. Be an upright person, or I'll lose all respect for you!" Julia said before turning to leave.
But Hayden was momentarily stunned in place.
"What? His company?"
Hayden's expression faltered, his gaze drifting as confusion spread across his face.
Something wasn't right.
When did Morgan start a company? And why was it in competition with his? What did Julia mean by fair competition?
All of this left Hayden feeling puzzled and uneasy.
The change in his expression didn't go unnoticed by the others. Even Charlotte and the rest were dumbfounded.
"You don't know?" Charlotte asked.
"I don't know about that right now, but I'll know about it later," Hayden replied coldly.
He wasn't concerned. He would just look into it later.
As long as the company existed, it would be easy to find information on it. With business registries and online resources, nothing was really hidden.
"Hmph! So, you're pretending, huh? Are you trying to make us think you have no clue about this?" Julia sneered, mocking him.
The room fell into a brief silence once more.
Charlotte and Anna looked at Hayden, waiting for his response.
But Hayden just stepped aside and made room for them to pass. "Take care. The door's that way."
He didn't want any more interaction with them, even if they had misunderstood him.
